It teaches you new values, gives you a different purpose, helps you realize your wrongs. You wonder if the father of your child was ever worth it as love fades into hatred. But the moment it happens and you look down at that beautiful little soul who is all yours? When that happens? Nothing else matters. That’s your new purpose, they’re you’re new path. Being a single mom isn’t easy but if I could go back in time and change it, I wouldn’t. a jacket for every outfit, a vans collection that rivals a shoe store, the sound of perfectly manicured finger nails typing away on a phone screen, hoop earrings a little too big, long mermaid hair in beach waves, the slight accent of a california native, a rose petal aroma, a bright mind with a tough fist, a crisply framed ivy league diploma. she was always that little girl picking fights with kids bigger than her, kicking and screaming despite getting herself hurt. she was a protector, she was a fighter. she was the little girl that would collect lightning bugs and sea shells with her big brother. sweet, bliss, carefree. she was the feeling you get when you watch a sunset. the feeling of curiosity and caffeinated dreams. a girl with her heart on fire.
