Hi, I'm Lina and this is the official account for my upcoming RPG. The above image is just a mockup. The game has a hybrid battle system which combines classic Active Time Battle games of the 1990's and tactical RPGs. Every character's timer determines not only when they're able to act, but how much they can move on their turn, with each step depleting some of your gauge. Positioning is key, with moves having an area of effect that can hit foes and friends alike, and objects on the field working as cover for some attacks.
In addition, every character has a unique resource and associated mechanics in lieu of traditional MP. The Synergy Gauge also allows for team attacks between your party. Blocking is also done in an active manner, similar to a fighting game - and yes, there are parries!
This account will occasionally share art and post updates on development progress. Right now posts are pretty sparse but expect them to pick up once development really kicks off.

I have spent the last month putting together a bunch of scenes from the game's prologue. My intent is to release said prologue as a free demo once it is complete.
The majority of the graphics and sound effects in the present build are placeholders, so there's not a lot that I can reasonably show. Above is the only scene in the game whose assets are final.
One thing I can show, however, is the new and improved Caroline walk cycle. I've finally reached a point where I'm pretty happy with the direction to take sprites in (which means I won't be tweaking them anymore), and we have since implemented a system that greatly expands what RPG Maker can do with character sprites, which is exciting.
I will not be answering questions about these other costumes. You'll have to see for yourself in what context they appear in.
The battle system is still a bit of a ways away, so I doubt there'll be a playable build of the game this year, but I hope to be able to show off other parts of the prologue in the meantime.

In other, more concrete game dev news from me, Prototype NÂ will receive a new demo version at SAGExpo 2024 this Friday. There are reworked stages and graphics, new music, and more importantly, cutscenes that finally shed light on some of the game's plot. Those were written and boarded by yours truly. The new character who shows up in one of them was also designed by me.
In addition, the game will now feature Brazilian Portuguese and Latinamerican Spanish language options. If you'd like to help translate Prototype N to your native tongue, feel free to shoot us a message.

This duo serves as Captain of the Antipode, an airship of free spirits who listen to no master. The two are actually two halves of the same being - with only one of them being in front at a time but the other still able to communicate through the other at times.
In the world of BELOW HEAVEN, the rare cases of humans who are magically attuned to a specific element are referred to as Witches. Ida is a witch of Frost, while Agni is a witch of Flame.
Mechanically, the two share a single resource: Temperature. Ida's abilities will take away cold, which generates heat, while Agni's abilities will do the opposite. You'll need to constantly switch between the two in order to use them effectively. In addition, their whip can be used to push and pull things around, which leads to some fun scenarios when ice and fire are involved.

Now, most of you were probably homeschooled all your life, and the idea of getting out from under your parents' wings seems very scary! But rest assured - it's an important part in the development of any elf. Your life away from home and your contact with other students and the faculty will teach you self-discipline and how to live harmoniously in society.
In addition to learning about history and the natural sciences, you will be taught a variety of subjects like art and music, as well as combat-oriented skills. Among these is the manipulation of our world's most important resource: Aether.
Aether is the very life force of the world. As descendants of the divine, we elves are attuned to it, and thus are able to manipulate it with training. Aether lingers in the air but cannot be propagated through it, so each student will be tasked with developing their own Aether Focus in order to better make use of it. Your focus is personal and speaks a lot about you as a person - so choose your design carefully.
You have certainly taken notice of the armband on your uniforms. These are personalized and must be worn at all times. The color on the armband identifies your grade, with the ones you all have right now - red - representing grade 1. Further grades will move along the spectrum of visible light - orange for grade 2, yellow for grade 3, and so on. Grade 8, your final year here, is represented by white.
As a safety measure, you must wear your uniforms both inside and outside the school grounds. While you have access to the entire colony, your uniforms will serve as a means of identifying you as students of Paradiso even in other Sectors, and the barcode inside the armband will help others identify you should there be any issue.

Classes start later today, so please refer to your personal schedules and don't be late! There's a new animation system in BELOW HEAVEN! This adds way more versatility than what RPG Maker provides out of the box. It gives me idle animations, blinking, "wait" animations (when you stay idle for a while) - all randomized, so characters don't all blink at the same time! - as well as the ability to automatically go from a walk to a run, with separate animations for both.
Internally, this also makes it a lot easier to change a character's pose, and even making those animation changes character-independent, as every character has an internal name that is referenced when pulling animations from. It also has support for alternate outfits!
We're planning on having this plugin available for others working on their own RMMZ projects, so look forward to that in tohe future.

Here's a pair of characters who probably won't show up ingame for a while.
When the majority of elves moved to space thousands of years ago, the ones who remained (either by choice or being unable to afford it) had to deal with the harsh new reality that had been brought about by climate change - extremely low temperatures and reduced visibility due to lack of sunlight. This caused them to evolve into what became known as Prismatic Elves - instead of an affinity for manipulating Aether, these gems on their foreheads allowed them to bend light in various ways.
They also possess iridescent hair, and while powerful elves can eventually grow large feathery wings, a prismatic elf would get something closer to bug wings instead.
Kobolds are the result of a similar evolution - being cold-blooded creatures, these lizard-like beasts had to develop thick fur over their scales in order to survive the ice age.
Kali maintains an ancient library - or the ruins thereof - doing his best to restore ancient texts. He is assisted by an assortment of kobolds, with Thorn being closest to him.
