Here I am, Lord, SEND ME.
Ever Felt Alone?
I clicked the play button and a familiar song filled the room. In a second, my memories travelled back to when I was teaching the song to a group of young people.
I’m all alone. Again.
This is not entirely new for me. I’m used to it. I grew up with it. And whenever surrounded by a lot of people, I would sometimes wish to be alone.
I remember walking the streets of Manila alone. Or that moment when my heart raced because it was almost midnight and I was alone, lost in the streets of Cubao, or that time when I went canvassing alone and driven by home-owners away, or when I had headache in the Superferry but needed to exert all my strength for I was travelling alone, or going to Negros and Lopez Jaena alone and not knowing the exact venue of the mission field, or riding buses from UP to Sampaloc alone, going to SM alone, eating alone, cooking alone, walking alone, living in the boarding house alone in my room, staying late at night in my childhood alone. I’m used to being alone. I don’t mind being alone.
But not this time.
I went out of the room. No one else.
Sometimes, when you are in despair, your heart clamors for companionship, for some sympathy. This, especially when words cannot be uttered, when anguish of soul just fills your heart and you’re afraid of expression.
I looked for my family. None. I waited for my friend. None.
But, somehow, I remembered Him who trod the winepress alone, for me.
Jer 29:11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you,..
I know He will never leave me. Because he trod it alone, for me.
I am not alone.
I am not alone in my problems, I am not alone in my struggles, I am not alone in my sufferings, I am not alone in my trials. I have Him, who trod the winepress alone for me.
Then it came to me. Many people feel loneliness. Some try to hide it through social media, amusements, relationships. But in the end, they are still alone. Many people feel alone.
But I thank God I know Him.
Because loneliness for me means more prayer time, means being prepared to trace foreign lands without the pain of leaving people behind., means learning to trust the Lord at all times, means not making flesh my arm, means longing for heaven more and more.
And I would rather be alone here and reach heaven, than be surrounded with people and forget to yearn for eternity.

The Secret of Silence
By Justin Kim on April 05, 2011
Two patriarchs were beloved by God.
Two patriarchs were rich with crops and livestock galore.
Two patriarchs lived in the same region and in the same period of earth’s history.
Two patriarchs had deep, profound relationships with the Divine and heard His very voice.
Yet one was the father of many, who eventually became alone. Another was a father of one, who would eventually become many. One had a whole book ascribed to him. The other was mentioned relatively shortly, but his descendants become the main characters of the Bible. One was called perfect and made an example in front of the universe. The other was called a friend of God and made a blessing before all the nations.
But in the end, both were asked to sacrifice and suffer.
Job
Job was a man that feared God, perfect, upright, and eschewed evil. Yet when his children, household, goods, and health were taken away, he grieves and mourns for two chapters, seeking death. His three friends come to argue incorrectly that Job had done something wrong, making false metaphysical and ethical statements about good and evil. After rebuking each friend in a cycle of three debates, God finally spoke to him.
Between chapters 38 and 39, God conclusively proved that man could not understand everything and sought obedience from humanity. There is no personal advantage in obedience. There is no understandable rationale in obedience. Reason and rationale have limitations. Obedience does not.
Abraham
Abraham was a man that also feared God and called the friend of God. He was to be the father of God’s people, protecting and guarding of the sacred law. To him were promised more descendants that the night stars and the sands of the sea. But in chapter 22 of Genesis, God also asked to take his child away.
Though one child, the wages were more circumstantial than the situation of Job. Though Job had seven sons, three daughters, 7000 sheep, 300 camels, 500 oxen, 500 donkeys, and a large staff, more promises were encapsulated in the person of Isaac. Isaac was the child of promise, the child of impossibilities, the progenitor of a people numbering more than the night stars and sands of the sea. This child was birthed from his parents’ laughter, prematurely caused the birth of a rival nation, and the object of anxiety and hope for more than 20 tired and elderly years.
Taking the life of this child should have caused more mourning than Job’s loss. This was an action that was highly un-understandable. Abraham should have been asking questions, grieving, mourning, seeking death, escape, alternatives, and answers.
Silence
Yet what is so disturbing about chapter 22 is that there is no indication of these signs. Whereas Job has more than thirty chapters devoted to complaining and discussion, there is not even one verse attributed for this avenue. Rather, we see a methodical step-by-step journey to the top of Moriah, only to worship. We hear a silent hike up the mountain. We only smell the fire burning on top of the altar. We do not see any rationalization, cursing God, hint of bitterness, seeking of alternatives, discussions, questionings of misunderstanding. We see obedience. This unrational (not irrational) obedience is so disturbing that the violence of a son’s murder by his father does not phase us. Maybe Abraham knew something about faith that Job did not.
You see, Christians do not sacrifice and suffer. We serve a Lord that owns all and does not know material loss. Christians do not sacrifice and suffer; Christians merely obey. We may either mourn for 30+ chapters or walk silently up a mountain, but the outcome is the same. Obedience never needs to be understood, just done. The world calls this foolishness, but there is no personal advantage in obedience. Even though we may not understand ourselves, we must keep walking and say, “I will follow thee, my Savior.” This is what Jesus did every hour of His life.
You see, there is a secret that every Christ-follower knows: Christ Himself. And when you know Him, you’ll love Him. And when you love Him, you don’t think about obeying Him…you just do.
Almost Time
"Time is almost finished. Do you reflect the lovely image of Jesus as you should?" Then I was pointed to the earth and saw that there would have to be a getting ready among those who have of late embraced the third angel's message. Said the angel, "Get ready, get ready, get ready. Ye will have to die a greater death to the world than ye have ever yet died." I saw that there was a great work to do for them and but little time in which to do it. {EW 64.1}

Daniel 1
A Personal Application on Daniel 1
PAFCOE DANIEL Class Requirement
Ye are My witnesses, saith the Lord, and My servant whom I have chosen." Isaiah 43:10.
The book of Daniel begins from the captivity of the Israelites and the overthrow of Judah. In the first verses of Daniel, we see the forces of Babylon putting into nought the resistance of Judah and overthrowing its men. We know from the scriptures that the reason for this was because the cup of Israel's iniquity was full that the Lord has permitted it to be destroyed. We read from the book of Job
For he maketh sore, and bindeth up: he woundeth, and his hands make whole (5:17)
Certainly, God loves His people. His judgments are motivated by love and although human wisdom may not understand, it is always for good that God allows things to happen.
God speaks to His people in blessings bestowed; and when these are not appreciated, He speaks to them in blessings removed, that they may be led to see their sins, and return to Him with all the heart. {PP 470.2}
Israel sinned before God. And in His great love, God has allowed His blessings to be removed upon them that they may see their sins. In our being Christians, some events may occur that may lead us to think that God is unjust for not stepping in and restraining the unfortunate events in our lives. However, what we don't see is that it is still because of His love that these happenings are made to occur. God is interested in the welfare of His children and it is His will to separate us from sin.
Rev 3:19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.
Whenever trying things happen to us, we may claim it as a blessing from God to let us look deep inside our hearts and examine it for some cherished sin and idols that have been separating us from the hand of the Almighty. This, we can believe as God's way of separating us from sin and correcting us into the pathways of righteousness.

A Personal Application on Revelation 14:1-5
PAFCOE Revelation Class Paper
Revelation 14 starts with John giving an account of his vision of the one hundred and forty four thousand. He describes himself looking up and seeing the Lamb. Standing with the Lamb are the one hundred and forty four thousand who have the Father's name written in their foreheads. He describes later in verse 3 that these people sung a new song before the throne of God and that no man could learn that song but they alone. In verses 4 and 5, he further describes their qualities, that is, being undefiled with women, that they follow the Lamb whithersoever He goeth, that they were redeemed from among men and are firstfruits unto God and unto the Lamb, and in their mouth was found no guile for they are without fault before God.
In the first five verses alone are sufficient practical lessons that I hope to assimilate to my life. I would like to make this point by point that the lessons may be expounded. Beginning with verse 1,
"And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion, and with him an hundred forty and four thousand, having his Father's name written in their foreheads."
Here are seen the first characteristic of the hundred and forty four thousand-they have the Father's name written in their foreheads. Interestingly, the word forehead is mentioned six times in Revelation and two times in the book of Ezekiel and all these verses describes the forehead as the place to be sealed or put a mark on. Why? From science, it is known that this part of the head is the frontal lobe and it has the prefrontal cortex which is responsible for the higher order functions of the body. This is the part of the brain that is used for planning, reasoning and judgment, for choosing wrong and right. This is where intellectual decisions are made that shapes the character. This is the reason why the forehead is the place where the seal of God or the mark of the beast is put on because it symbolizes decision or choice. Choices are made from the forehead, from the frontal lobe, and the decisions made determine the side chosen.
The hundred and forty four thousand have the Father's name in their forehead. This means that they have been able to perfectly reproduce God's character, God's holiness (Isaiah 57:15), that they have chosen God's side and has been sanctified by His blood. This is the result of their daily intellectual choices to give up self and follow God's will in everything they do. They have healthy frontal lobes that have made healthy choices and thus they were fitted to be written the Father's name, the Father's character.
Looking at this makes me understand how important it is to have a healthy frontal lobe for without this I cannot be able to make the right choices. Science say that there are things which could damage my prefrontal cortex and this includes the food I eat, the things I watch, the music I listen to, or the medications I take. All these things impede the function of my frontal lobe making me unwise in my decisions and weaker in my will. If I do these practices, I make myself more and more incapable of making the right decisions and less able to discern the voice of the Holy Spirit and thus day by day I would mould our character in such a way that I will not be fitting to bear the Father's name.
There is no greater bliss than serving the Lord!
Glad to trod the pathway He walked.
