everything was loud. though you weren’t sure what you were expecting, it was a party after all. a party full of drunk young college kids no less. the others had already wandered off to god knows where to have their fill of alcohol. you were a bit disappointed you wouldn’t be able to join in, but it was nothing you couldn’t handle.
currently, you were leaning against a wall with your back against it and talking with xiao, who had yet to leave your side, “not used to the alcohol?” you ask xiao with an amused smirk present on your features.
he grunts in response, turning his head away to hide his flushed face. “i’m fine, just tipsy.” he mumbles, drink in hand and all. only a few sips in and he was already looking like he had taken ten shots in one go. it was silly to say the least.
“well you’d do yourself some good tagging along with the others instead of staying back with me.” you suggest softly.
“i can hold off on my own.”
xiao grunts in response again, hesitantly taking no more than a sip from his drink, as if afraid that any more would cause him to black out. “you just… always stick around when i’m the designated driver.” he looks down at his cup and coughs, feeling the burning of the drink in his throat. you hum. “i do, but that’s just because i know how much you can’t stand crowded places like these sober.”
your eyes wander around the place, you saw a lot of familiar faces within the crowd, everyone looked like they were having fun, especially lumine who was hyping up a drunk venti from the other side of the room. “but i can handle crowds, you don’t need to worry about me.”
you lean in closer to whisper into his ear. “you should go with the others. lumine and venti are over there.” you point and his eyes follow. he stays quiet for a moment before huffing in defeat. “right.” he hesitates, his eyes flickering back between yourself and the others. you raise a brow. “i’ll be fine, seriously.” you insist stubbornly, now placing both hands on his back to guide him on his way. “go have fun.” xiao says nothing and turns to nod at you before walking off.
you huff and lean back against the wall, watching him disappear into the crowd in search for the rest of your guys’ friend group. “it’s like high school all over again…” you murmur to yourself.
“what was like high school?”
a sudden, new voice joins the picture and it makes you flinch and whip your head around in search for who the sneaky bastard could be until your gaze looked down and saw a familiar mint-green haired guy behind you. “lohen.” you blink, shake your head to come to your senses, and sigh in annoyance. “do you usually do that with people you know?” you ask, scooting to the side to make more space between the two of you.
lohen only grins like a sly little fox, it pisses you off somehow. “depends on my mood really.” he shrugs and stands next to you against the wall. “so, what are you doing here? really didn’t expect someone like you to be here.”
you snort in amusement. “what’s that supposed to mean?”
lohen takes a moment to blow a bubble with the gum in his mouth before replying. “you just seem too cool to be here in the back all by yourself.”
“relax, i just got here, let me ease into this place before i go ahead and do something stupid.” you smile to yourself, turning you eyes to meet his. “plus, i’m kind of the designated driver tonight. can’t be drinking anyway.”
lohen raises a brow. “you? i thought you were a horrible driver, did you guys like spin a wheel to decide that or what.” you roll your eyes and shake your head. “we did actually, just so no one gets left out while the others drink.” you pause. “and who told you that first part?” you lean in closer with skepticism written all over your features. “oh y’know… the grapevine.” lohen doesn’t bother leaning away, in fact, one could even argue that he leaned in just the tiniest bit.
you don’t buy it and instead pull your head away before any of you could get too close for comfort. you fail to catch the way lohen’s grin strains a little in disappointment. “so i’m guessing venti told you something, huh?” you turn back to eyeing said man as he was now drunkenly dancing and singing on top of a random table. lohen follows your gaze and you both share a laugh.
“i didn’t say anything.” lohen looks away and grins as to avoid fault.
“you didn’t have to.” you reply, pausing to imagine what you could wring out of venti as punishment. “i’ll talk to him later.” you note aloud.
you both say nothing for a moment and lohen takes the opportunity to slide closer to you. you don’t care much for it. “what about you?” your words break the silence left lingering in the air. “why are you back here instead of with your friends?”
lohen turns his head away to scan the room for rosaria and kaeya who were both busying themselves in a drinking contest with a crowd surrounding them. “ehhh i don’t drink. leaves ya too dumb for you to pay attention to your surroundings.” he pauses. “and it tastes like shit.” he blurts it out so casually you actually laugh. “ah, so you’re those kinds of people then.”
lohen raises a brow, teetering between offense and curiosity. “what’s that supposed to mean?”
lohen pouts, actually pouts and takes this as an opportunity to dramatically drape an arm around your shoulder. “woooowww. you’re really using my own words against me, you wound me, bunny!”
you scoff. “as if you’d actually care about that. you’ve probably already got something else brewing in that brain of yours for sure.”
“am i really such a scheming scoundrel in your head?” his hand squeezes and traces your collarbone.
lohen lets out a mix of what seemed to be a scoff and a chuckle. “well then, you’ve caught me. i’m a cunning, evil mastermind that only exists to make your life more difficult.” he then picks out a wrapper from his pocket, spits out his gum into it, and a throws it away into a nearby trash can.
you hum in amusement. “i think the word you’re looking for is ‘nuisance’, lohen.”
“again, what’s with all the slander here, you hate me or something?” his grin grows and his eyes crinkle in a way that makes him look oddly charming for once.
you shrug. “i used to. in the beginning of the semester, at least. i wanted to punch your lights out first day of class.” that gets him laughing, his face resting against the crook of your neck. “well why didn’t you?” he asks as if it were the most normal thing on earth.
“because i’d probably be expelled, that’s why.”
“is that the only reason?”
you blink at the question, he seemed to be seriously interested at the aspect of you hitting him in any way. it was obvious by the way his face was now inches away from yours and his eyes were staring into yours with something else in their gaze. “what, did you actually want me to punch you?” you chuckle in disbelief. “mmm yeah... i wouldn’t have minded actually.” he pauses, his gaze turning suave and half lidded. “probably would’ve liked it too.” he murmurs into your ear so that only you could catch wind of that confession.
you’re stunned momentarily, silently processing his words before bursting into a fit of laughter, holding your stomach with your arms. lohen blinks and watches how you double over so abruptly and without explanation. he then opens his mouth to (probably) defend himself but you quickly cut him off. “s-sorry, sorry! i didn’t mean to laugh at that. it just caught me off guard was all.” you explain in between laughs. you don’t notice the way his eyes softened at your giggling figure, probably because he snaps himself out of it before it could fester into something else.
you calm yourself down after indulging in a rare fit of laughter and turn back to him. “you’re weird, you know that?” you say that with such a wide and vibrant expression that lohen avoids your gaze entirely. “not that it’s a bad thing, it’s endearing really.” at that lohen quickly adapts into the conversation and smirks and leans back into you all over again. “hah, i knew it! there was something you liked about me. to think you were just talking about hating me just seconds ago.” his arm doesn’t wrap around your shoulder and instead trails down to grab your waist firmly.
“don’t get too cocky now. jury’s still out on whether you’re an acquaintance or not.” you snicker.
lohen gasps dramatically, his chin now resting on your face as if you were the only people in the room right now. “acquaintance? i take offense to that. after all we’ve been through?” your hand lightly rests on his back as he talks. “you mean the one shitty study session we had once where all we did was talk out of our asses for two hours straight? yeah, you’re going to have to try harder than that.” you declare smugly.
though in response to that, lohen only hums. he stayed quiet for a minute and instead decides to inspect your face, his eyes trail around your every feature until you’re sure he’s ready to dissect you. then, just before you could open your mouth to ask him what he was doing, he leaned in closer. so close in fact that your breaths are intermingling with one another. “then let me try, yeah pretty?” he murmurs, his hand now caressing the side of your face. you blink, now suddenly getting a good look at his features, he was handsome, charming even when he wasn’t being an annoying asshole. your eyes flutter and you suddenly feel yourself getting into a daze. it was now at times like these you wished you had a drink in your system so you could blame it on the alcohol for what you do next.
for once in your life you decide to indulge lohen in something. “just try?” you whisper with a raised brow.
lohen hums in response, eyes lingering elsewhere, primarily on your lips as you speak. “yeah, unless you want something else?”
his little innuendo brings a smile to your face. “hey now, you’re passing the line.” you tease.
he smirks, “well you’re not saying no.”
“do you want me to say no?”
you lean in closer, your arms now wrapped around him, the tips of your noses are practically touching as you manage to whisper “that’s what i thought…” before pulling him into a kiss.
with the way lohen kisses back immediately you could almost conclude with total confidence that he had been waiting for a moment like this to come.
his lips are rough and desperate on yours as if wanting to devour the taste and feeling of you alone. you want to laugh and tease him a little, but instead tilt your head to the side for better access. his hands are shamelessly all over you; on your hips, your ass, waist and the small of your back. you could even feel one traveling to your chest before you pulled away with a small chuckle. “not here, moron. we’re still in public y’know?” you scold with a smile. lohen groans, impatient and wanting nothing more than to dive back in to taste you some more. “don’t care.” he grumbles softly, his lips still pressed up against your own.
you roll your eyes, gaze flickering around the room, guiding him to a more secluded corner so you at least aren’t making you in everyone’s faces. “needy…” you murmur and press your lips against his once more.
you feel a bit ashamed at how quickly you had let things escalate between the two of you, you really knew nothing about him yet here you were, pressed up against a wall with your lips smashed up against his. maybe it was because you were pent up, but it feels hypocritical to call lohen needy when you yourself are too. his kisses grow hot and messy and his hands trail down to tug at the belt of your pants, thumb sliding down under the waistband just to rile you up.
“my car…” he manages to murmur out in between kisses. “let’s go to my car.” your lips let a small noise of satisfaction escape as his teeth nibble on your bottom lip. “we’ll have more privacy there, then”—he groans softly as his other hand travels under your shirt. “t-then we’ll have all the fun we want.” he pants, eyes dazed with a lazy grin present on his face suggestively.
you’re about to open your mouth to speak, to agree like the pent up mess you are when a voice pulls you back to your senses.
“(name)? (nameeee) where are you? i think i broke a nail!” mona’s drunken voice exclaims from a distance.
your head whips around at the sound of your name being called, scanning the crowd until you spot a drunk and crying mona as she held her acrylic nail in her hands as if it were her own.
you almost laugh at the scene alone but quickly turn your head back to lohen. “we’ll talk about this later, okay?” you whisper, gently removing his hands from your hips and step back.
lohen grabs your wrist with a disgruntled look written all over his features. “do you really gotta go?” he groans like a kid who got told no for the first time. “it’s just a stupid nail… she can take care of it herself.”
“well she’s also drunk.” you sigh, wiping the saliva from your lips. “so she can’t.”
lohen clicks his tongue and it makes you roll your eyes. “i’m serious. we’ll talk later.” you pause. “we can continue where we left off another time.” that makes his gaze light up, though it was hard to tell under the dim lighting.
you lean in to kiss his cheek in compensation “just don’t don’t be a puss and back out.” you pull your hand away from his own hand’s grip on your wrist, wave him goodbye, and immediately make your way to comfort and sober up mona before she herself reached the point of total blackout.
lohen stood there for a moment, speechless for once in his smug life. he actually did it. he actually did it! all those nights spent fantasizing about how you would taste like, how you would feel like, had now come true. sure it might’ve only been a few minutes but that was all he needed. hell who was he kidding? of course it wasn’t enough. he needed more, he wanted more, and that’s probably why he ended up getting ahead of himself. he looked down at his pants and a saw a familiar bulge forming in his pants. “shit, seriously?” he hisses. curse his imagination for letting him get too excited. he looks around the room and makes a break for the bathroom once the coast was clear.
he didn’t come out until it was time to leave.
“ugh— venti did you shove a wine bottle up your ass or are you this heavy when drunk?” you groan out as venti’s slumped and limp figure clings onto you for dear life. after almost an hour of trying to find everyone and get them back into the car, you had successfully managed to drive (without crashing) back to yours and albedo’s apartment. you sat down venti, who was babbling unintelligibly, onto the couch where he immediately flopped over like a rag doll.
you turn back to face the others. lumine had fallen asleep on the drive home but somehow managed to walk herself into your room and hasn’t come out since. you just hope she doesn’t knock anything over or makes a mess out of your room.
xiao was leaning against the wall, legs failing him as he stumbled every time he walked on his own. he kept insisting that he was fine and that he didn’t need the help, but you knew better.
“xiao, just let me walk you to the couch so you can drink your water there.” you sigh out and make your way over to him. “n…no i’m….” he immediately loses his train of thought. “‘m fine.” he slurs out in a mumbled voice. “you’re not.” you wrap an arm around his waist, ignoring his protests and sit him down on the couch. “see? you can barely stand up.” you huff and give him the glass of water he had asked for earlier in the car. “now drink up.” xiao hums in response and does as you say.
you know that he wouldn’t be much of a problem now that he was sat down somewhere so you turn your attention to the next drunk idiot of the night, albedo.
he had stumbled over to take a seat in the kitchen table the moment you all got home and now his head was resting against the cool wood. you sneak up behind him and place a hand on his shoulder. he only lets out a muffled noise in response. “c’mon, you too bedo, you also need to drink water.”
he shakes his head and slowly peeks out an eye. “it’s fine, (nickname), i’m not drunk.”
you scoff. “everyone’s told me that exact lie tonight.” you lift his head up and place the glass of water in front of him. “drink up or i’ll make you drink it.”
albedo stares down at the glass of water and pushes it away. “i don’t need it.” he insists and instead rests his head on your chest lazily.
the use of his actual name gets him to sigh, pick his head up and take a small sip of water. the rest of it falls down his chin.
“…it’s a start.” you mutter to yourself, watching him slowly chug down the water. “mona?” you call out to her from her spot against the front door. “how are you holding up back there?” you ask as you move to help albedo drink the glass of water while wiping the water dripping down his chin.
“i’m… okay!” mona exclaims walking in with her hand over her forehead. “just a bit dizzy.” she closes the door behind her and makes her way into the kitchen. “d’you know where the ibuprofen is?” she hisses. “my head’s pounding like crazy…”
“it’s in the second drawer to your left.” albedo drinks the last of his water and you sigh in relief. “finally.” you pause and pull out your phone from your pocket. “what time is it anyway?..” you unlock your phone only to be met with another sight.
