The library had become a sort of haven after all that had happened. He was not cursed, yet he was alone. He had hoped his feelings about her would die out, would atrophy the moment he had learned the truth. But they had not, and he had not looked her in the eye since. His eyes lifted from the book in his hands to the open door, and he stared. Why hadn’t he expected her? The place only she had loved as much as he did. ’ Good afternoon.’ He said politely.

she is on the brink  of turning on her heel, all but fleeing directly from the room, from the smell of parchment, ink, and safety, when he speaks.   as of late, it has been all she could do to studiously avoid will and his blue, blue eyes. the simple sight of him is enough to send an equal pang of both sorrow and longing straight through her. the palm of her hand, concealed under gray kid gloves, still an angry, puckered red,  stings.    ( it is not enough, will NEVER be enough, in comparison to the hurt she saw reflected in his eyes that night. )
