Being the Mom of Boys

My kids are generous with their stickers. As I was slipping out of my dress this afternoon, I found one in my bra.

When I picked Henry and Sam up early for a doctor's appointment, I was pleasantly surprised to see Henry (SITTING in a chair!) at the table appropriately eating a snack of melon, and Sam valiantly trying to get glue out of a destroyed and empty glue stick for a project. His shoes and socks were thrown across the room, but he was working on school work!

Me: Guess who's in the kitchen? Sammy: Don't know. Me: Who's the person you love most in the world? Sammy: (Putting his arms around me) You. (Aww!) Me: It's Daddy. Is he your favorite person in the whole world? Sammy: Yes! (I thought so)

Hank and Sam saw some folks on the corner on the way to school the other day but there was no homeless bag in the Jeep so he told Sam we would have to put one in the Jeep and give it those folks some other day. As they pulled past them, Sam said, quietly, to the inside of the closed car window, "Sorry, guys."

We were pulling into Winco and I was looking for a parking spot. Sam said, "That man was holding a sign and he is homeless. We need to give him a homeless package." We drove back all the way to the entrance again and Sam handed him the bag from the window. We came back around and found the perfect parking spot.

Oh no.

Me: Goodnight Henry, I'll see you tomorrow. Henry: Goodnight Mommy. I'll see you tomorrow. And the next day.

Henry: I have 2 quarters and nickel now. Me: Where did you get them? Henry: Daddy had a hole in his pocket and I was picking them up so now they're mine.

Sam: Guess what. The caterpillar turns into a butterfly and guess what. The butterfly flies and guess what. It shoots spiderwebs- Me: Wait. Sam: On Pokemon Go.

Sam: Aw Samantha, you're so cute I'm just going to hug you forever.

Sam: You know nothing about my life. It's good.

Sam: The only thing I know about you is you have a stinky butt. Henry: It's true.

Sam makes apple juice

More words I hope I never have to say again: No, Sam. You lost the privilege of eating trail mix when you chose to put a peanut up your nose. Twice.

I know you'll all be surprised to hear that Sam SURVIVED THE DAY. He was waiting for me patiently at the table with his lunch box. I said, "Well! You made it!" and asked him how school was. He said, "Good."

"Grandma, I'm tired. I want to go to bed."
