No, Montreal beating Boston in real life has nothing to do with those two fictional hockey players (who barely ever play hockey from what I can gather). These are two teams both a century old doing what they've always done. This isn't Shane vs Ilya, because they're not real, this is one of the oldest hockey rivalries in the world doing what they've been doing for over a century.
Can you people please learn how to tell fiction from reality, or get the hell out of our fandom please? You're rude, disrespectful, annoying, and we shouldn't need to deal with that so close to playoffs. There's a reason all of those tags are blocked.
The show and book are not that deep, you're not reading the Iliad, it's a trashy hockey romance that's a dime a dozen. Please don't come into our fandom and act like we're the stupid ones, okay? You're the ones acting like idiots over something any writer could've written, and two actors who aren't all that hot in the first place, not us.
ETA: Also, the way a lot of you treat Nick Suzuki - the only half-Asian captain in the NHL - is fucking disgusting, and you should all be ashamed of yourselves for that racism. Because that's what it is, it's racism.
