Meanwhile, Start.
My friend: I know you might have had a picture of how you wanted your life to be, but some uncontrollable tragedy swept it away. We all have a certain picture of how we want our lives to be, and sometimes it gets ripped from our grip and smashed to pieces. Our dreams can get crushed in an instant, in the most horrible ways, with irreversible results.
We might be living in a life right now that doesnât feel like itâs ours, you and I. We might be in a different place than we had hoped for. Today could be different than you had imagined and planned a year ago. Your heart will pull for another chance, another door, another world.
We wake up in a daze, wondering how things changed so fast.
We wait, hoping itâll go back to the way it was.
The three hardest words to live with are often: In the meantime.
Yet â in the meantime is the whole thing.
If youâre waiting for your âreal lifeâ to start, after graduation or when youâre married or when you get to the big city, youâll stay in a holding pattern. The time will pass anyway. The tide doesnât wait.
So I hope youâll consider starting in the meanwhile.
When a dream dies, it dies. We can mourn. We can pound our chest. We can bleed. And at some point, we must let go and not linger. You can open your hands to another dream. I hope you find this new dream. I hope you donât try to revive something thatâs dead.
You can get over whatâs over, because youâre not over yet.
When the ten count is over: you can count to eleven.
What comes next will not be what you had envisioned. It might be better or it might be worse. I hope you will keep dreaming anyway. I hope you will consider God can do a new thing.
You are free to pursue something new.

âIs anything too hard for the Lord?â
â Genesis 18:14
I know how hard it is to talk about Jesus. Itâs the most awkward conversation youâll ever have. If you even say the whole Gospel out loud right now, it sounds like the craziest thing youâve ever heard. But the Gospel isnât some âspeechâ you unload on people and then âleave it in Godâs hands.â Blasting people with theology is like serving icing for dessert. Evangelism is your whole life, itâs sharing your home, itâs enduring patiently, itâs being a human being, itâs availability, itâs sharing Jesus through who you are; not perfectly, but passionately. Yes, invite them to church and to that revival and talk about your faith and your testimony, but once you dare to go there, just know you might be rejected immediately, a lot, and aggressively. Except secretly they canât deny there must be something to it, because youâre not just a billboard: youâre an overflow of a barely containable supernatural miracle.

In the stillness I can hear You whisper, Calling deep and deeper still, The same the voice that moved upon the waters says "Come drink and have your fill."

âAnd He said to me, âMy grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.â Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christâs sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong.â
â 2 Corinthians 12 (via koinohnia)
