29th June 2026. This year's Strawberry Moon was extremely low in the sky, which made it look very large and bright. (A perfect photographic opportunity!)

if they're gonna remake The Princess Bride, it should open with a kid sick in bed scrolling on his phone. his grandpa arrives with a gift--it's a DVD player with a disc already inside. grandpa hooks it up to the TV and presses play. and we all just watch the original 1987 film again.

This illustration of the Great Comet of 1577 comes from the Şeca'atname, an Ottoman book about the exploits of the general Özdemiroğlu Osman Pasha in the Ottoman-Safavid War and it was written by his secretary, the Circassian bureaucrat and soldier Dal Mehmed Çelebi Asafi. It is held in the archives of Istanbul University Library.
