it's really funny how the entire world basically just blew the fuck up six short years ago and nobody wants to admit that that may have had some lasting consequences lmao
like so much of Everything today is premised on the idea that the earth-shattering catastrophe which happened within living memory of everyone older than a third grader has had no meaningful material or psychological effects on the general public and i don't think that's good, lol.
"(some of) the top-line economic indicators (sorta) recovered (in most places) so everything is fine and we don't need to talk about it" is not a sustainable framework for interfacing with reality
"why is everyone so angry and paranoid now?" "why is politics so dysfunctional now?" "why is [x] [y] and [z] now? blah blah blah"
2020:

fascinating how often men expect women to sympathize with their fears of being perceived as or treated like a woman
so much "masculinity" is constructed around the certainty that being gay or being a woman is inherently demeaning. and we're supposed to nod along supportively
"male loneliness crisis" ok so like.....what would happen if you started acting like a better friend to other men in your life? what's stopping you? is it the fear of being perceived as one of your inferiors?
"men aren't allowed to show emotions" ok so like…..what would happen if you started being more emotionally expressive? what's stopping you? is it the fear of being perceived as one of your inferiors?
What would happen is he would be mocked and treated as lesser and not a real man. there's a strong shame associated with having your basic identity called into question and belittled by others
oh no, not being mocked! that's the worst thing that the patriarchy has ever done to anyone, probably. and we all know men can't be asked to tolerate any discomfort in the name of social change. that's women's work.
what would they specifically be saying when they mocked him? what names would they call him? dig reeeeeeal deep on this one
