RHEA SEEHORN For W Magazine, 2026
Who is your cinematic crush? "When I got to this shoot, they asked me if I would be interested in doing a Marilyn Monroe kind of inspiration. I grew up with tons of books on Old Hollywood, and Marilyn in particular. I was obsessed with her. I really tried hard not to cry when they suggested I be like Marilyn. "Do you have a favorite reality show? The Repair Shop, on the BBC. It’s set in a beautiful barn somewhere in England, and they have specialists come in to fix things. People bring objects that are broken but mean something to them: a prewar set of boots or an old chair. I find it heavenly. And then, late at night, I watch murder TV and Dateline. My partner says, “How can you sleep after that?” I’m like, “Because bad guy identified, bad guy caught, and then all the world is all right. I learned from watching murder docs and Dateline that as actors, when we're playing people who are lying, we're encouraged to do it very, very well. But when you watch those shows, you realize most people are horrible liars."
Unfair of my job to expect me to show up when I have arts and also crafts to do

i love the x files cause it’s like what if the most beautiful woman you’ve ever seen (literal doctor and FBI agent) got slowly convinced into believing in the most bizarre things imaginable by the most beautiful man you’ve ever seen (big stupid doe eyes) (also top FBI agent) and now they’re wanted by the government for being hot. or whatever

it's funny to me that in the original idea for pluribus vince gilligan intended for it to have a male protagonist but then he was like i really wanna work with rhea seehorn again so he made it about a lesbian instead. more writers should be doing this if you're considering writing a man stop what you're doing and make him a woman immediately

light me up
I know Pluribus is going to enter the annals of television because it's a rare current example of trusting your audience and not treating them with 'kid gloves' with metaphors boiled down to a mush for easy consumption. It's about colonialism it's about generative ai and addiction to convenience, it's about cults it's about queerness and assimilation, it's about consumerism it's about communication, the many barriers that exist to it and the irreplacable joy of connection between individuals, precious for its flaws and existing despite everything stacked against it.
Like I think no matter where the show goes from here, I'll probably be in a situation where I'm among annoying people or having a shit miscommunication time with them, and I'll remember this show and feel a smidge of gratefulness for the fact that I get to live in this frictioned imperfect world of assholes where anything can happen.
