Welcome to the Sub Life
SO. You’ve graduated from college with a teaching degree, and now it’s time to find a real job.  Just kidding...you were scared of growing up so you decided to devote the next year of your life to 30 more credits of studying, papers and writing hypothetical lessons.  To make some money on the side, you decide to become a substitute teacher...at least you’re working with kids right?
WRONG. Many people may think that being a sub is easy work; wake up, follow the teacher’s plans and go home.  No planning, no testing, no parents.  What could be better?  Except subbing is one of those jobs where you’ll find that schools are always looking for help.  Want to know why?  Because no one wants to do it.  Some schools require a State Issued teaching certificate, but some schools only require an Associates Degree. In essence, you bust your tush off to pass all of your teaching certification exams just to realize that basically anyone can come in to be a sub.  Not that anyone wants to.
My blog is going to be dedicated to helping new, young teachers survive the common struggles of getting a teaching certificate, subbing, interviewing for a job and landing their own classrooms. Â I have conquered 3/4 of these feats, as I am currently awaiting the moment where the precious phone call arrives bearing wonderful news.
until next time, fellow teachers <3
