another deep breath escaped from her lungs. her words hindering at her lips for moments on end all because of fear. though not of him but the fear of rejection. abigail wanted nothing more than to show cooper how wonderful life under the water was and much much better it would be if they were together. how life intended it. although, as much as she hated to think it, he was small minded and had a strong dislike for things that were new. and as much as it pained her to leave him behind she knew she couldn’t stay on land any longer. it wasn’t home to her any more. not that it had ever been in the first place. “stand up then.” she said after doing so herself and dusting the sand off the back of her legs. “you do know that i would never let anything happen to you, right?” abigail’s hands reached for his in order to help him up. positioning herself in front of him. placing herself between the water and his own being. heart pounding in her chest, she knew this was something she had to do. that they both had to do. cooper needed to understand what he was missing. even if he wasn’t going to be able to see it she knew he would be able to experience it in other ways. all she needed was a chance to show him. a few mere minutes of his time. it wasn’t as if he had anything better to do. he was just sitting on the beach in the middle of the night after all.
