Alan smiled at her but soon snapped out of it, “Oh yeah sorry let me get that for you.” he said fumbling with his own door handle to get out. He closed the door behind him and tripped on his shoe laces but caught himself. He walked over to her door and opened it for her, “Sorry about that.”

Roxy climbed out of the car and smoothed her clothes out. “Its perfectly fine.” She stood up straight and looked at the building in front of her. “So this is where you live?” She took a deep breath and turned to face her friend, trying to calm her nerves. “After you, I guess.”

Uh, yeah I’m good. And coffee free it looks like.

Alan nodded, “So do i, yeah I know..80′s and 90′s are really far away, but I can’t help it. My mom used to play it all the time.” he smiled at her, “But I’m glad I was born into this generation, it gave me the chance to meet you.” he said sheepishly. 

Roxy felt her face heat up as it turned bright red. “Yeah, maybe living in this generation has it’s perks.” She smiled at Alan, but only for a second. “And, um, I think I might know a song or two from the 90′s. A-are we going to go in?” Roxy asked as she reached for the door handle.

“Yeah, I get it. I like 80′s and 90′s music, I don’t know something about that kind of music makes me happy.” he said with a small smile. “Um just around here.” he said turning and pulling up to his place, “Ok we’re here.” her turned his car off and undid his seatbelt.

Roxy continued to sit in the car before realizing what was going on. “Oh, yeah.” She unbuckled her seatbelt and turned to face Alan. “80′s and 90′s? Thats cool. I really like the music of the early 2000′s.” She smiled and laughed softly. “I swear I was born in the wrong generation.”

“I have mac n cheese, and peanut butter and jelly? We could always do take out.” He smirked as he watched her being memorized by the instruments. “This room is yours. I have tons of paper over their.” He pointed to a small pack of music paper and line paper. “I have a melody stuck in my head, so I’ve been writing at weird times.” He told her as he walked over to the couch and picked up his notepad. “I write pop-punk, rock, and alternative music mostly. It suits me best.” He told her as he bit his lip. “What do you like singing?”

Roxy’s stomach growled at the thought of food. “Take out? Ummm, what about pizza?” She didn’t usually get sudden cravings like this, but pizza sounded perfect to her around that time. “What do I like to sing?” Roxy bit her lip in thought. “Anything, really. Just whatever I’m in the mood for.” She began walking towards one of the guitars and reached for it as if she was going to pick it up. Before touching it, she turned to Erick. “Is it okay if I...?”

Alan chuckled nervously, “Yeah.” he said tapping his fingers on the steering wheel. “I’m the same way…I listen to a little of everything.” he smiled at her faintly. “The Summer Set? Yeah I’ve heard of them. I think they’re pretty great.” he admitted, he didn’t think anyone really knew of them.

“I just like how, I dunno, carefree their music is. They somehow find a way to make begging for an ex back seem upbeat and happy.” Roxy smiled and twiddled her thumbs. “So, um, were exactly do you live?”

Alan felt like he had already messed up and was internally beating himself up over it. “It’s no problem, I mean it’s the least I could do.” he said before putting his seat belt on. He peered over to make sure she had done the same, a habit he’d gotten since having smaller siblings. “So…what’s um..you’re favorite kind of music?” her asked as he began to drive.

“Hm?” Roxy shook her head to bring herself back to reality from her little dream world. Realizing she hadn't put her seat belt on, she clicked it into place. “Favorite kind of music?” She looked back down into her lap and thought. “Anything really. Just whatever I’m into that day. Whatever makes me happy. Have you ever heard of The Summer Set?”

He saw Roxy head towards his car and immediately got out to greet her, “Hey.” he said awkwardly, not sure if he should go in for a hug or not. “Here let me get that for you.” he said before fumbling with the car door handle. He opened the door and waited until she was inside to close it behind her. He sat back in the drivers seat and looked at her, “You look..nice..” he said blushing.

“I, um, thank you. Hi.” Roxy replied rather quietly, looking down at the ground. She didn’t want her new friend to see her blush, or the huge smile that had somehow spread across her face. She glanced back up, trying to sneak a peek at him, but quickly turned to look out the window. “Thank you for picking me up.” She continued to look out the window as she spoke.

Roxy looked around the room, amazed. She walked around admiring all the instruments. She found herself in front of the drum set, lightly caressing the edge of the hi-hats with her fingertip. It took her a second to realize she was being spoken to. “Oh!” She turned back around to Erick. “I-I’m sorry.” Roxy stood there for a moment trying to remember what she had just been asked. “Uh, yeah. I mean, I could eat. What do you have?”

Roxy checked herself one last time in the mirror. She put a little extra effort into getting ready. She found this Alan guy incredibly attractive, and even though she didn’t know him too well, he seemed sweet enough. It was nice to meet someone that was supportive of what she wanted to do with her life and had the same goals as her. She looked down at the parking lot from her window and saw Alan sitting in his car. Within a few minutes she was outside, making her way to the car.

That actually sounds a lot better. I mean, if you don’t mind having me over..

The park.. where people can hear.. um, yeah! Sure! Why not?
