I only realised yesterday that a contestshipping day existed. (And contestshipping week?? Since when??) Yesterday also happened to be contestshipping day, so this left me very little time to lock in and draw something for the occasion. I intended to draw Drew, but only managed to draw May... Which kinda defeats the whole purpose of the "shipping" part. Oh well.

"And now, let's hear from our judges! Mr. Hayden, your thoughts...?" "The appeal was very flashy, but..."

I picked moves for them based on their contest battling styles. May tends to brute force her way through battles and prefers to pick moves that either match her Pokemon's type or that deal serious damage, with the occasional wild card (like Assist or Metronome). That's why I chose basically just 4 consecutive moves from Braixen's level-up moveset.

Drew on the other hand picks some pretty unusual movesets for his Pokemon (no Dark STAB on Absol??) in the effort of battling more creatively and showing off the Pokemon's physical attributes. He even uses move-tutor exclusive moves. So I gave him his signature floral move, powerful STAB move, and two very out-there move picks that have a lot of synergy.

I think it's really funny that people call out Drew for having the palette of shiny Roselia, but it's also the palette of shiny Floragato. so, I'm still playing into that LOL

Didn't draw it with much detail LOL but the red flower on May's stick is meant to be a peony, which represents romance and good luck :]

Drew gets the hidden ability Protean to make better use of his weird moveset and because I think it just fits his style and personality a lot. Same reasoning for May and Blaze.

I thought it was really funny that May misinterpreted Drew's roses this way and had to doodle it. Everyone go read the fic, it's super cute!!
