What I really like about Pavlova is how his character was introduced
This overbearing, passionate character who seemed almost insufferable in his obsession with love. He came off as someone who couldnât tolerate dissent, like if you didnât believe in love the way he did, you were simply wrong. It made it feel like his whole identity hinged on that one idea, and you were supposed to see him as foolish or deluded for it. HOWEVER
it became obvious that his beliefs about love werenât as solid as they first appeared. The confidence he once clung to started to fracture, giving way to uncertainty. He began to question the authenticity of his feelings.. you could see him struggling to tell if what he felt was real or just something heâd convinced himself of.
It becomes clear that Pavlova is clinging to a single, willfully naive belief.. That ignorance is bliss. He doesnât want to question it, he chooses to see it through rose-tinted glasses, desperate to preserve the illusion, no matter how fragile it really is.
The question I've seen floating around is
"Why is Pavlova an adult in the second half of the event?"
The answer is simple. Beyond looking at the fact that he is based on Eros.. Pavlova's child design represented innocence. Pavlovaâs retreat into dreamy escapism mirrors the innocence of a child, someone deliberately kept naive and sheltered by Eternal Sugar. His refusal to leave the facade of paradise isnât just denial but itâs the result of being emotionally caged, conditioned to see comfort in fantasy rather than face the harshness of reality.
Eternal Sugar positioned herself as a benevolent savior, enforcing a version of happiness that could never be questioned. She offered "paradise" wrapping everyone in a sweetness they couldnât escape. Like syrup weighing down Sugarflyâs wings.
In the end, Pavlovaâs deepest desire was simple.. he just wanted his âdearest friendâ to break free. Unable to openly show his frustration and anger under Eternal Sugarâs watchful eye, he instead directed those feelings toward her, all the while secretly hoping for Sugarflyâs liberation. Pavlovaâs desire for freedom was reflected in her as well. More than anything, he yearned to escape..... ideally, with her by his side.
Pavlova was destined to remain captive.
He became Eternal Sugarâs greatest enabler, never summoning the courage to spread his wings and break free, even though they were always ready behind him. Consumed by fear, he remains trapped.. his future locked in place, with no hope of escape.
Pavlovaâs story is a tragic exploration of willful ignorance and the devastating cost of emotional captivity
His journey reveals how fear can cage even those with the power to escape, and how projection of hope onto others can mask oneâs own paralysis. Ultimately, Pavlovaâs story is a cautionary tale about the price of denial and the courage required to break free from toxic attachments, even when it means risking everything you thought was home. Itâs a lesson on the need to confront painful truths, or else remain forever imprisoned in a false paradise.
