I’ve been thinking that Benny’s original plan might have been to start with a long-distance relationship, and then have Omar eventually move to the US (Benny had already secured a professorship and was very happy with his life in Miami) , which is probably why he had such strong motivation.
But maybe Omar made it clear that he couldn’t move to the US. He seems quite nostalgic and deeply attached to the people around him, and even for the sake of his music career, he’s still very tied to TEN and not really in a position to leave it behind.
So their goals just didn’t align. In that sense, maybe it made more sense for them to end things earlier rather than keep investing more emotional energy and wasting each other’s time.
Hoonestlyyyy ever since Omar defended TEN in his tweet back last year (or was it this year?), I already knew he’ll stick staying there in the comfort of his current career and label. So even though there could be a lot more opportunities for him outside Sweden/Europe, it’s gonna take something drastic for him to actually move out and expand his career out there, unless he had another global/US label signed to him at the same time with TEN, like how Atlantic was. And yes, I do agree that their goals aren’t aligned. It’s hard to sacrifice a part of live you have built for years for someone who doesn’t want to do the same (this applies to both of them) so the break up is inevitable. Well at least good to know they’re both career-oriented people and are focused on building more of it now 🥲
