Hellbent

Sorry to pull you away from what little life you have but I’ve summoned you here because I need you to dispose of a few people - & by people I mean demons.” Mephisto standing in the middle of the dimly lit abandoned train yard. Standing up straight as red cape would flow fluidly against the light breeze behind him. Tone of voice sounding relaxed & calm how he loved having a bounty hunter to do his work but it was ulimately his own mistake for placing trust in the DEVIL & making that deal which would seal his fate. Chiselled chin would lift up taking a few steps forward as there was a current problem which needed to be resolved.” Lucifer has escaped from HELL & arrived  here on EARTH & is now causing trouble, he is very savage & chaotic in nature but apparently the bastard as split himself into six hundred & sixty six forms & has taken posession of humans & beings scattered around the country. OUR job is too find them & dispose them.” Mephisto had a faint hint of annoyance in his tone of voice, lower lip would jut out as nose woud curl.” I know what you are thinking - ‘why not leave it to the AVENGERS’. They deal with physical threats, we deal with threats that are more supernatural, so shall I give you some time to get ready before we embark on our little road trip together?”

Really, he wasn’t all that surprised by the sudden appearance (I mean, standing in an abandoned train yard was kinda askin for it).

It wasn’t the scent of sulfur strong enough to choke a rhino or the fiendish familiar glint of sharp teeth in the demon’s mouth that caused Johnny to falter. Mephisto was an asshole and a semi-regular occurrence in the Rider’s day-to-day. It was like the red faced fucker planned PTA meetings and Johnny was the only sorry sap invited.

No, he was used to dealing with ole piss poor Mephistopheles every blue moon. (Honestly he needed better friends.) But the word “together” had Johnny rocketing upright.

“What the hell, pun intended, do you mean we’re going to be traveling together?” The very idea had the biker brute wishing a bullet to his brain would put an end to things. Just the thought of traveling around like some twisted version of Bonnie and Clyde knocking out the Devil’s flesh bags nearly made Johnny sick. He could barely stand to see Mephisto’s sour face twice a year (his birthday and Christmas, never missed his mark, like they were long lost buddies) but to go on some sick and demented hunting trip wigh the fucker made him want to hang himself on his own chain.

If there was one little thing that Ky’lar couldn’t STAND, it was ultimately being COMPARED with his father, and even with the UNDENIABLE resemblance, he still wanted to DENY it  ( even though it wouldn’t help matters ).

“—— Yeah, I tend to get that a lot, and I HATE it.”

He wanted to fight the Rider's impulse as it hummed away under his fingernails. Wanted to spare just a few more hours before his whole world was consumed by flame and the echoing screams that haunted him; asleep and awake. It was a selfish desire, he knew. Probably even a sin. Maybe that's why the hellfire hurt so damn bad. It consumed everything.

But still, he couldn't escape the damn job even if he tried. He'd spent a month in Antarctica and still managed to find fuckers up there that needed cleansing. Rapists and burglars. What did a man have to do to get some peace? Go to the fuckin moon?

But that was beside the point. Right now, the Rider writhed within him begging for any sliver of light to let it free to do its bidding. And it craved the vengeance. He could smell it on the kid's skin. It was there, thick and wet, like oil or melted ice cream. He needed it.

He couldn't help the laugh that floated off the burning whiskey in his veins. It was just too damn ironic to hear from Blackheart's son of all people. The goddamn grandson of Mephisto. Couldn't get any more priceless.

"I think I got ya beat in that area. Trust me kid."

Cordial as he tried to be, Johnny could feel the inhuman hum of the Rider slicing through his mortal bonds. Flesh and bone slowly being separated by thick layers of molten heat, daring to rise to the surface. It swelled against his skin and smoked at the hair lining his knuckles down to the balls of his feet.
