imagine a poster for a band or a concert ?
TALKING POSTER
This is an experiment with conductive ink on an existing poster.
The words on Lift Conference 2014 poster are "touchable" and trigger a voice saying the words one has just touched. Using only ink and traditional paper, we connected the poster with a sparkfun board (capacitive touch sensor), an arduino nano and paper clips.
Many experiment with different conductive inks were necessary to reach an acceptable result.
We tested the poster during the 3 days of Lift Conference 2014 and proved the high reliability of our technical solution.
This is a Fortune Teller based on twitter API's. It tells you the future based on your twitter past...
It's inspired from a original project from rosemarybeetle found here (instructables.com). It browses through the last 200 tweets of one user to build a sentence, display it on a screen and say it using text to speech techniques.
The sentence is made from randomly chosen connector's verbs and words in a predefined list. The user's most frequent words, # and @ are used to build the sentence.
The fortune teller was shown at the Lift Conference 2014 in Geneva and received a positive feedback from an amused and curious crowd.
We just received a sample of a new experimental transparent conductive ink for our test on Lift conference interactive poster. It's packaged like a very dangerous and secret product... how cool is that ?

How to make a video game in half an hour
or
Workshop at the office with the MakeyMakey open hardware device with Frederic Kaplan and Nicolas Nova as guest stars.
Skull made with green filament found at faberdashery
For this model, we wanted to test the best quality available: 0.1 mm layer height, 20% infill, big size. After 12 hours (!) of printing, the result is beyond expectations. The surface is incredibly smooth, the details are stunning and the printer worked well during all the time even when we used the "cold pause" for a night.
Model found on thingiverse.
For the next exhibition at the Musée de la main, we needed a support for the leap motion. We designed and modelized the support in Cinema 4D and used the printer to optimized it. We were surprised by the precision of the model. In Cinema 4D we smoothen the model to avoid facets, which had no influence in the printing time but gave a better result.
Setup:
Cinema 4D - HuyperNurbs to avoid polygone effect on the object Printer - Low Res (no adjustment), 0.3 layer height, 230°C, 90mm/s
A random terrain, made in Cinema 4D and printed in standard 0.2 mm height layers, approx. 15 x 15 cm. I can imagine doing game platform, base for architecture project or movie sets.
Eames Bird. For this model, we tried to avoid support with a split in two of the 3d model.
The result looks good and clean, and the lines give a nice finishing to the body. We used wood sticks to make the legs, adding a final touch.
Setup: Standard (no adjustment)

#arduino #sparkfun - touch detecting device sending input wirelessly to any device

"date the data" test print of 3D font taken from Lift Conference 2014 poster design. Defect on some of the letters - in the T, some walls did not print at all - but overall nice print. The thin design of the letters are nicely printed.
I tried to print a big size model of Stegosaurus (my son must prepare a "talk" on the subject for his history class...). I found a model on Thingiverse by Ollie Chalk , I opened it in Autodesk3D-print to check and fix the model and then I used Maker Ware to export the final file. It took 4h30 to print and the result is really nice, especially the tail spikes and plates. The support was really easy to cut off using pliers. The settings were: 15% infill, 2 shells, 0,2 mm layer height, 230°C and 90 mm/s speed. I found important to have an important infill not only for the solidity but also for the accuracy of the print. The only defect is on the two biggest plates: the printer didn't manage to finish it weel, as if the infill only has been printed.

New test of Koons balloon dog:
This time we used the Autodesk 3D Print to fix the model problems we had before and with the standard setup in Maker Ware.
The dog was placed in the right position in cinema4D.
134 polygons were repaired with Autodesk 3d print soft
Time: 2h45 – 230°
Result: No more holes in the legs.
