BOBBY'S BURGER PALACE UNIVERSITY

Hi Everyone,

It’s me Robyn from BBPU UMD! Unfortunately, my internship has come to an end. It has been such a fun semester interning at Bobby’s Burger Palace! During my internship I found new and innovative ways to engage with BBP customers through various social media outlets such as Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.  Also, as a BBPU Ambassador, I created consumer-marketing strategy plans, worked on planning events, including the promotion of Bobby’s Burger Palace’s Burger of the Month.

Looking back at my internship, I realized how many different types of events I did while working at BBP.  One memorable event, that the BBPU interns hosted was a bloggers luncheon.  We had food bloggers from all around the DMV metro area come and tweet about the great food at Bobby’s Burger Palace. It was exciting to see all the bloggers tweet great comments about the food at BBP and to get a first-hand experience of how successful this type of event can go. 

Another event the UMD BBPU interns volunteered at was, the UMD Chapter for Relay For Life. We helped participants take photos and post them on social media with the #BBPRelayforLife. We also reminded students about BBP Tuesday Crunch (10%OFF every Tuesday from 5-9pm when you show your UMD ID) and about BBP menu offerings. During the event, we were using social media such as Twitter and Instagram to spread awareness about Relay For Life. 

Lastly, was an event that we did to promote Tuesday Crunch, called Tuesday Crunch Social at Bobby’s Burger Palace College Park. This event was an entertaining night filled with games, raffle prizes, and giveaways. There was also a live radio show called “The Blender,” who came in and did a live broadcast while people were eating at BBP. Overall, I enjoyed my internship immensely and had a great experience! I would recommend it if you are interested in promoting the BBP brand and eating lots of hamburgers-then this internship is definitely for you. Hello Burger Land: 

Well my time is coming to a close. April has ended and so has the April Chicago Burger of the Month. (Keep on the look out for May) Also, my internship and college experience is almost over. If you missed the College Park Tuesday Crunch Social you missed out on a lot of fun and a lot of giveaways courtesy of Bobby’s Burger Palace and WMUC 88.1 FM The Blender. This has been a wonderful experience not just an internship. The BBP brand is one of quality, integrity, and creativity so I would like to say I fit right in. And before I leave I would just like to say “I’m sorry but Bobby’s  Burger Palace has the best burgers of all time”.

The semester is ending which is terribly sad, and with it goes my time at BBP (and hopefully the burger, fries and shake weight I gained). This semester I had the pleasure of interning with BBP on K St in Washington DC, and I can say, without a doubt, it has been such a fun and "full-filling" experience.

It's safe to say I've consumed more burgers, fries and shakes than I had ever imagined which was amazing, but I think the best part has been sharing it all with you. Through organizing campus events, posting endlessly on social media, or simply just dragging my friends to BBP whenever I was hungry, the best part of this experience has been the connections I've made to the community and with my friends, simply over sharing a meal.

So with that I leave a few pieces of advice to the future BBP interns...

1) Students love the BBP swag. Many, many friends asked for a hat, t-shirt etc. So use this to your advantage when incentivizing people to come to events.

2) Make room on your phone for pics of food. It's crazy how much of my camera roll is food.

3) Get creative. Food pics and captions don't become awesome overnight! It's a process and you'll get good, trust me!

4) A burger, fries and shake is never a bad idea. Yes it seems like a lot (okay yes it is a lot) but it's a sure fire way to pick you up whenever school has you stressed!

Johanna here from College Park! Let me tell you about my new found snack obssesion.

I go to the diner and just walk straight by the grilled cheese line because I have promised myself to only be loyal to the Bobby’s Burger Palace Griddled Cheese Sandwich. I’ll never look at a grilled cheese sandwich the same way. Before working at Bobby’s Burger Palace, I thought a grilled cheese was the simplest thing I could eat. THINK AGAIN. Bobby’s Burger Palace opened my eyes and showed my taste buds a whole new level of cheesiness flavor. NOT one, NOT two, NOT even three cheeses, but FOUR, melted together and complimented with a tomato slice; talk about an explosion of flavor. 

Now let us not forgot my first true love, the milkshakes. In my last post I had worked through about half of the milkshake options at BBP. I am proud to say I only have two more to try, the Black and White and Coffee. I have about a month left to try them, but my tastedbuds always seem to be craving the blueberry-pomegranant.

Last week, the UMD BBP interns had the pleasure of hosting our first event: Blogger Tweet&Eat. The event was very successful and overall really fun! We had bloggers from hercampus.com, SpoonUMD and @dcfoodporn. The bloggers got to try anything they wanted off the menu all while posting to their social media accounts. The whole luncheon used the hashtag #bbptweeteat. Starting off the lunch everyone got to try BBP’s cactus pear margarita and it was a huge hit! 

While enjoying our food it was an amazing opportunity to talk to the bloggers and learn how they got started on food blogging. @dcfoodporn has over 25,000 followers! It was exciting watching him take pictures of his food and see how he got creative with everything he ordered. Having him post images from BBP was amazing! All of the bloggers got to leave the luncheon with their own goody bag. The goody bags included a Bobby Flay cookbook and signature Bobby Flay barbecue sauce. As an intern planning and executing this event was a really fun experience. We got to reach out to colleagues and show them the restaurant we work for. It was also an amazing opportunity to get to talk to these different people in all different fields with a common factor: food. 

Have you ever been hungry and didn’t know what to get in College Park? Well Bobby’s Burger Palace is the place to go. There are so many endless options to choose from to satisfy your hunger.  Each month Bobby’s Burger Palace has a new burger of the month. This month the burger is the Chicago Burger with american cheese, sweet relish, banana peppers, celery salt, tomato, white onion, and pickles. This burger of the month adds more to an already fantastic menu, giving restaurant goers another option to try something new. Besides the Burger of the month, there are many other burgers to choose from. If you are in the mood for something spicy try the Vegas burger. Do you want bacon? Then try the Bobby’s Blue burger or the Brunch burger.  My favorite burger is the LA Burger because I love the avocado relish and cheese on my burger.

But if you want something cheesy then we have a delicious grilled cheese sandwich that will satisfy your cheesy craving. Also, try our Dallas or Carolina burger if you love BBQ sauce on your burger. Do you want chicken, or a turkey burger, we have them and you can even have a crunch salad! ? So what else goes along with burgers, grilled cheese and salad?  Side dishes of course! We have sweet potato fries with honey mustard horseradish sauce, regular fries with BBP fry sauce, and even delicious onion rings. Can’t decide which side to get? Then try the half and half, it combines any 2 sides.  My favorite combo is the onion rings and sweet potato fries. If you are craving something sweet, try one of the 10 amazing milkshakes we offer. From the classic vanilla bean milkshake to the dark chocolate milkshake your sweet tooth will be satisfied. So get up, get out, and come to Bobby’s Burger Palace to try our delicious endless food options!

Hey Burger Fans!

Zack here from George Washington, with a little helpful guide I put together. One of the main things I learned from taking friends to Bobby’s Burger Palace is that when you first walk into your local Bobby’s Burger Palace, it can definitely be a little intimidating. Whenever I brought a group of friends into the restaurant I had to help at least 75% of them order their burger! It’s crazy, and to prevent this in the future I put together this 5 step ordering process:

1. Take a deep breath and relax: It’s a burger restaurant, not a job interview.

2. Start from the left and move to the right: The first panel is the most important, it is the reason why you came here and contains all of the delicious burgers you could ever want. Briefly skim all of the burgers, and then narrow it down to 3. Then pick the one with the most toppings that you desire and go for it! And just remember that you are in BBP, everything is delicious, so you will not be disappointed. (In case you were wondering my favorite is the L.A. Burger Medium Rare)

3. Ask yourself, do you want a shake and fries? Of course you do: The second panel contains all the amazing burger accompaniments that you could ever hope for. With 13 shakes there is something for everyone. Plus if you are extra indecisive, you can always just combine two of the sides of your choosing. (I am a big fan of a Black and White shake with a combination of Beer Battered Onion Rings and Regular Fries).

4. Did you come for something other than a Burger and Fries? (If you came for a burger and fries you can skip this step): Well then the last panel is all about you. Bobby’s Burger Palace likes to make sure everyone is happy. Choose from a variety of Salads, Sandwiches and even Wine and Beer if you are 21+. No one leaves BBP unsatisfied!

5. Exhale: YOU DID IT! Congratulations!! Now go and enjoy your beautiful creation!

Hopefully this helps, and if all else fails, then just remember Step 2: “you are in BBP, everything is delicious”. Now go forth and order with confidence!

Hey Everyone!

This weekend the other interns and I got to travel to New York City to meet Bobby Flay and discuss more in-depth what Bobby’s Burger Palace is all about. While Bobby shared so many interesting things with us, I thought I would highlight five interesting facts below for you all.

 The Five things I learned from meeting Bobby Flay:

1. Bobby Flay has a fully stocked, high-end kitchen in the middle of his office.

2. He is truly passionate about food. Every time he was asked about something food related he was so descriptive and excited when answering.

3. All of the burgers at Bobby’s Burger Palace are inspired by locations that he actually visited himself. Different regional tastes are featured in every one of his burgers.

4. One of the most important aspects of Bobby’s cooking is texture. He intentionally makes sure that each of his burgers has an interesting combination of textures. All of a sudden the option to crunchify makes so much sense!

5. Although he is famous, Bobby Flay is a down to earth guy. He is very conversational and was really fun to be around.

If you would, sorry but I am just kidding. APRIL FOOLS. There is no #BBP SWEET PATTY. But it would be a cool April Fools baked treat. Nevertheless, we do have a new burger that was released today. All jokes aside. April BOM (burger of the month for all you new comers) is the Chicago Burger (take on the Chicago style hotdog). I am sure we’ll get President Barack Obama’s seal of approval.

- American Cheese - White Onions - Sweet Relish - Pickles - Celery Salt - Banana Pepper Rings - Tomato Slices

ALL ON ONE BUN! So on this April Fools Day rush on down to your local Bobby’s Burger Palace and try out tribute to the windy city food flavor greatness. Tweet @BarackObama to get him to try the April BOM that salutes his hometown. Never know, he may invite you to try it out with him. Food for thought.

Hey Bobby’s Burger Palace Fans!

Since becoming a BBP Brand Ambassador at University of Maryland, I have tried EVERY burger on the menu. My favorites are definitely the LA Burger, Philadelphia Burger, and the Brunch Burger. I eat at Bobby’s Burger Palace so much that it has almost become an obsession! Being that I love BBP so much, I wanted all my friends to experience the amazing options that BBP has to offer. I decided it would be a great idea to have my sorority take out food from Bobby’s Burger Palace for Sunday night dinner. When I proposed this plan to my sorority sisters they were ECSTATIC. Some girls had been regulars at BBP while others had never even tried a burger there before. I encouraged the girls in my sorority to try burgers that they had never ordered before such as the Dallas Burger, Brunch Burger, Vegas Burger, and the Carolina Burger. We also had Sweet Potato Fries and regular Fries, which were surely a hit! The fries were gone in only a few minutes! Everyone loved their meals and told me they wish we could have BBP take-out every Sunday! My friends took pictures of their burgers, shakes, fries, and salads and posted them on their own social media pages such as Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. This was a great way to promote BBP and show how amazing all of our meals were. I can’t wait until we order BBP for take out again!

Bacon. Egg. Cheese. Those three words usually coincide with a bagel from the GW Deli on a Sunday morning, but for me, those words remind me of a different kind of sandwich: The Brunch Burger. With a perfect fried egg, smoked bacon, and American cheese, this breakfast in a burger is just one of BBP’s creative, unique, and delicious sandwich creations.

Hey guys, its Nick from GW here again! This internship has given me a lot of things, but my favorite by far is the seemingly endless amount of burgers I get to eat. I thought I’d take this time to let you know what are a few of the best things to eat at BBP. Trust me, I’ve tried everything.

If you’ve ever had the internal struggle of deciding between sweet potato and regular fries, fear no more. Bobby’s Burger Palace offers a half and half deal, allowing you to split any two sides! My favorite thing about this whole deal is the fact that they bring you BOTH the chipotle mayo fry sauce and the horseradish mustard sweet potato fry sauce. That’s right, my favorite things about the fries are the sauces! Both complement the fries perfect and the best part is that can purchase your own to bring home!

Now this may come as a surprise to some of you, but one of my favorite sandwiches at BBP isn’t even a burger…. Not everyone knows this, but BBP offers amazing grilled cheeses and fresh salads for anyone who’s not feeling a burger. One of their sandwiches, the griddled pimento cheese and bacon sandwich is a great choice for anyone who can’t decide on what to eat. With spicy pimento cheese, crispy bacon, and fresh tomatoes, this sandwich is griddled to perfection, making the cheese perfectly melty and the bread crispy and crunchy. I definitely recommend it for anyone who’s looking to try something new.

It's official. My life and my camera roll has been taken over by Bobby's Burger Palace. Since beginning this internship I always knew food photography was going to be a thing, but I never imagined when scrolling through pictures of my friends, that there would be more pics of burgers, fries and shakes (though those are the real MVP's). The art of food photography is a delicate one, there are many complexities to taking the perfect picture.

Here are 5 things I am always thinking about:

1. The angle.

Do you snap the pic from the top? From the side? Below?

2. The lighting.

Does a lighter or darker spot make the food look better? Do I move it to better light or adjust the light on my phone?

3. The color.

Do all the colors pop the way they are supposed to? Do the grilled cheese look golden enough? How pink does the strawberry milkshake need to be for someone to know that's what it is?

4. Neatness.

Should I take a nice, clean, polished pic of the food? Or should it be a little messy, because c'mon, burgers are messy?

5. Proximity of camera.

How close should my pic be? Should it capture the entire plate and background? Or be close up and show the details of the food?

All of the things mentioned above are all variables I try to account for when I snap pics of my food. Hopefully it will give you some ideas the next time you head over to BBP.

Attention all milshake enthusiasts ! If you’re ever looking for a delicious milkshake, #BobbysBurgerPalace is the place to go. 

It’s Johanna again, coming from Terrapin Nation in College Park, Md! When I started wokring as a campus ambassador for #BBPU I wanted to challenge my tastebuds and try everything on the menu. I’m slowly but surely eating down the menu, but the item that is at the top of my favorites list has got to be the milkshakes. 

So far I have tried the pistachio, vanilla bean, coconut, and dark chocolate milkshakes. The flavors are so rich and vibrant. I’ve only gotten to 4 out of the 10 flavors because I get hooked onto one flavor and order it for a week straight. It’s the best and worst feeling in the world when I order a milkshake from #BBP. The best because they are so darn good and the worst because I love them so much I drink it all up so fast that I’m so sad when it’s gone.

In my first post I expressed how I tend to order the same thing every time I am at BBP. Since I have become a BBP Brand Ambassador I am confident in saying that I have now eating almost half of the burger menu! I am also getting creative in my orders by ordering topless burgers and even substituting with turkey or chicken burgers. My favorite thing about the BBP menu is its use of cities. I have learned about Bobby Flay's love for traveling through America and that is why he chose that for his menu. When I am eating the Dallas Burger, my new favorite, I actually feel like I am in Texas and the burger toppings offer that experience!!

Ever since I saw my first picture of someone's dinner on Instagram, I was beyond weirded out. I thought it was so strange that someone was posting a picture of what they were about to eat. It reminded me of some horror story or something. I couldn't help but think, why not just enjoy the food, why waste time taking a picture first? Overall, it just seemed like the weirdest thing I have ever seen on Social Media. 

But then I saw the light, and by light I mean a burger from Bobby's Burger Palace. Not only were the burgers delicious, but they were also presented so beautifully. With the perfect sesame seed bun, overflow of potato chips and an elegantly sliced pickle on the side to top it all off. It made me immediately want to take out my phone and snap a picture. In the midst of all this hubbub, I caught myself: "What are you doing Zack? You don't want to do this, it's weird, people don't care what you are eating right now!" I almost slid my phone back into my pocket then and there, but a part of me still couldn't resist. I had to at least try it right?

My first picture probably wasn't the most elegant, but ever since I have become addicted. The first thing I do when I get a plate of food is think about whether it is worthy to post a picture of and at BBP the answer is always a resounding YES. What I once thought was a convoluted way to make people jealous of your internal organs, became a way to spread the joy that is food! I realized it's not about bragging, or showing who has the best plating, but instead about trying to convince others to come try the delicious meal you are about to devour. You are doing yourself, your friends and the world a favor by posting a picture of that delicious burger on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter or wherever! Below I attached a little teaser of my most recent "photoshoot".

Nowadays, I am living the foodie life, taking so many pictures my friends never want to go out to eat with me anymore. I know someday, they will come around too. Maybe after I show them a Dessert Food blog they will finally see the light (burger). So go ahead, I dare you, try it out for yourself, and start living a changed life! Hey Burger People,

Bryan from GW here again for a mid-semester check-in! Since we last talked burgers have definitely taken over my life in the best way possible. Eating at Bobby’s Burger Palace has become a weekly meal at minimum and I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to taste as much of the menu as possible. My favorite burger so far has been the Brunch Burger! I am and always will be a breakfast guy, and this burger allows me to couple my love of burgers with breakfast.

The GW Interns have been working REALLY hard to make BBP more involved on campus! In the coming weeks we will be giving out FREE things on campus so please look out for us! We are also completing a community service project and a blogger social in the coming weeks as well, which are both really exciting.

Some things to remember before I go:

1. If you show your GWorld card on Monday’s at BBP, you get 10% off! This event is called the Monday Crunch.

2.Celebrity Chef Bobby Flay is the owner of Bobby’s Burger Palace and if you have never tasted his creations, you MUST do so immediately.

3. If it is TOO COLD to walk to BBP, get it delivered to your dorm by using PostMates!
