seems every year now disney will release a movie trailer where the lead will spend a larger amount of time with another character of the same gender than the others and people will go omg….guys they’re gay…..disney is making a gay movie finally….this is what i’ve wanted……for my life forever… and then the movie comes out and fart dick and balls happen between those two characters like tumbleweed through a desert level of chemistry and i see people fall for it over and over and pretending like it’s Something. brother i can get better gay rep from staring at my ceiling for hours on end and hallucinating random bullshit and i mean that

“oh but it’s there because it’s not representation for us it’s representation for younger queer kids so they can see themselves in big movies and feel validated!” OKAY. THEN I FEEL BAD FOR THESE KIDS DUDE. disneys “gay” characters aren’t allowed to be fun or exciting or interesting or even like Flawed as people because Oh No What If We Accidentally Become Problematic By Queercoding Our Villains Again Like We Used To And Accidentally Imply That Gay People Are All Evil :( which is loser behavior, literally no one was mad at the old disney villains because they behaved gayly that’s entirely why people loved them. gay people arent even allowed to be main characters. sure a character will go by they/them but they’ll have one or two lines max and show up in one scene. a character will briefly mention their crush of the same gender but they move on immediately. name one gay character from a mainline disney movie from recent years YOU CANT THATS THE POINT. it makes me kinda sad to know that if this is the rep disney thinks lgbt kids need to see they’re ultimately spreading the message that lgbt kids don’t deserve to be cool or fun like how the cishet leads are. at that point why even put the “gay character” in the movie at all if the messaging behind the inclusion could be That Dismal

the lowest tier, which costs 9 dollars, offers a week of connection while the very next, 16 dollars, will provide a full month of contact with the world to someone who desperately needs it. this is not some idle step. an entire month is a huge length of time for people who are displaced, terrified, and isolated.
