“Both my parents are actors, and they discouraged me from the profession. But I thought their lives were so romantic.
I did loads of plays when I was at school. It was all boys, so
I got to play girls. It’s scary how epicene I was. I got the female thing down. My parents were a little worried at that point—they thought they’d lost me to the other side
of the board.” These words, as well as his confession in the gay experience in school is very revealing. He is just gay from his young ages.
This is a wonderful and very profound, very sweet and honest quote. It shows what systemic psychology calls the double bind, which seems to be the speciality of both his Mum and that boarding school. With the one hand saying and telling: be crazy, be brilliant, be my late unicorn prince, little precious boy. Then he does it, with full enthusiasm and the full thrust of his magic, shamanic, transfomative, androgynous, bi/pansexual personality and bam, everyone backs off. No, that is too much. We do not like that. You should be a normal lad just faking a little crazy to have a carreer! Not the real deal, Boy, just the FAKE!
And he decided to become the fake, hence an “actor man”, for the hay and mum’s and his teacher’s pleasure.
And bam again, a whole global population of desperate, brilliant, suffering, socially and sexually deprived nerd girls are struck by the (rather tragic and very sublime) magic, trying hard to sell it to themselves as actor man’s “great work he gets paid a shitload of money for”.
No, it isn’t. It is something totally different, not needing and not having a name. Or any other name than his name that is not without reason a central part of the cult.
