ok you arent just born a systems thinker or a problem solver or whatever you have to consistently practice and put effort in and actually care about stuff first. it's not a "talent."
i’ve started studying chess as of a couple months ago and it has been one of the most beautiful, exciting, and gratifying endeavors i’ve taken on!! really challenging yourself to think about how different things relate and what happens to other pieces when you repurpose one to a new task without making sure u understand what it was doing in the first place. chess is so incredible and it has me thinking so much about the flow of energy and intent and whe to find the path of least resistance and when to push forward through the biggest obstacles to break them apart!
95% of this happening in the context of chess but i have moments each day now where i realize i am noticing something in a completely new way :’) its also been helping me strengthen my visualization skills as well!
also i learned one of the best simultaneous blindfolded chess players ever (playing games with like 2dozen people without being able to see any of the boards) probably had aphantasia and wrote about how he didn’t see a chessboard in his mind at all but recorded each move announced like it was on a gramaphone he could reply to keep track!(adding this to emphasize that there are many different ways to approach chess and it can be intimidating if u don’t think u have the “right brain” but it’s ok to approach in ur own way and lean on the parts of yourself you see as strengths while building the parts of you that might feel more like weaknesses)
anywho chess is free to play online and there is one million free resources available books, youtube, puzzles, lessons and so much more i highly recommend it to anyone interested!
lichess is an an open source, non-profit, completely free alternative to chess.com i’ll link below :)
You don't know much about chess? Excellent! Let's have fun and learn to play chess!
