August made a pleased little noise as Rob squeezed him, content to be carried. “Well, if it was cold, I’m glad you didn’t bring me along. The cold sucks.” He crossed his legs on the bed, scooting around to face Rob. “But don’t worry about it, it’s all part of the job.”

He hummed, thinking. “Things were weird here without you. I made some new friends, though–Actually another guy who’s like me! Isn’t that exciting? Like, what are the chances that we’d both work here, you know? So that’s cool. Some weird stuff happened that I’m still confused about, too.”

“Wait, really? Wild, what are the odds? I guess this company does attract all kinds of people though.” He ruffled August’s hair, scootching closer. He’d missed having August to cuddle and hang out with. The little man had been a part of his life for a while and it had been weird not having him around.

“What kind of stuff?” He tried to remember what all had been going on with August before he’d had to leave, but his memory never was good with those sort of things and he’d not written it down like he should have.

There was a quiet thump from inside the room, and some shuffling and mumbling before August opened the door. He blinked, then looked up, grinning when he saw who it was.

“Rob!!” August hopped up and tossed his arms around Rob’s big neck, hanging off him in an affectionate hug. “I didn’t know you were comin’ back yet!! How was your remote mountain base? Come in, c’mon.”

“It was cold, Auggie.” he hugged the Spy back soundly, swinging him a little before practically carrying the man inside. “We got a big snow they didn’t expect though, came early and some infrastructure finally gave out, wrecked part of the battlefield. No one could actually fight so all the temps got sent home.”

He plopped the smaller man on the bed, sitting beside him. “Sorry I couldn’t.. I dunno.. stick around or bring you with me or something. But it hasn’t been terrible while I’ve been away, has it?”

While Rob was at his daily gym-visit, August let himself into the heavy's room, carrying what looked like a helium tank and a big bag. When Rob returned, he would find anything in his room that could have a balloon tied to it had a few, with a pleased looking Spy on his bed next to a little stack of boxes.

Rob was freshly showered after his workout, dressed down comfortably. His gym bag slung over his shoulder, he went to unlock his door only to find it already locked. A bit nervous, he hesitantly opened the door, only to be pleasantly surprised.

“Aw, Auggie, you didn’t. Balloons? That’s so fancy, you didn’t have to.” The Heavy beamed, coming into the room and setting his bag down. Despite his modesty, he was admittedly excited.

“Balloons are fun! Also I could only think of two things to get you, so the balloons are like a third.” He had two wrapped boxes, one bigger and one smaller, stacked on top of each other. He scooted over to give Rob room to sit, fingers drumming on the edge a little.

He put the smaller box in his hands almost as soon as he sat, knowing Rob would probably like the bigger one better. And also he would need the personalized Swiss army knife inside to open the tape holding the second box closed.

“Naw, I like ‘em, just seems like a lot for one person.” He grinned, sitting next to August and ruffling his hair, only to have a box put into his hands. “Oh, getting right to it then, huh?”

He grinned, opening the little box to find the army knife with his name on it, giving the Spy next to him a one armed hug. “Aw, Auggie, this is really sweet! Thank you.”
