A famous image: Ani (of the "Papyrus Ani") has his heart weighed by Anubis before the gods. Ani's titles are presumably those he bore over his career: True Scribe of the King, His Beloved Scribe Who Counts the Divine Offerings of All the Gods, Overseer of the Double Granary... Ani's heart (left) is weighed as his witness, the emblem of his Ka ("spirit" or "vitality / essence"). Like many heart-related spells or texts, the Heart of Ani offers a "negative" confession: I have not done this, I did not cause that, I was not such... The spell, or request, is thus: "My mother, heart of my mother (ie, the same essence between generations), heart of my forms, do not stand against me as a witness, do not oppose me in the tribunal, do not turn away from me in the presence of the controller of the balance. You are my 'ka', which was in my body...." Ani beseeches his Heart to represent him faithfully - a sensible request given how unruly our own hearts can be
