I'm gonna get a shitload of hate for this, I just know it. But you know what? I don't really care anymore at this point in my life. I've been through hell and back again more times than you can count, and more times than you can put your head around. I've been called horrible names, been treated like I was nothing, been dehumanized by those who I believed would never do such a thing to me, been outspoken by countless radical contradictory assholes, so much that I've approached my breaking point (but never carried it out because I enjoy living and I have a lot to live for). So go ahead, insult me for this, whatever, I don't care. I couldn't give a hair off my body.
If everyone here is so for equality, and social justice--don't get me wrong, I'm all for social justice, it's just I don't talk about it much because most people think I'm not from this planet when I give my opinion on just about anything, and I'm also a lot more observational than I am proactive--then why in Lord Buddha's name am I seeing all of these generalizations that all white people are evil and privileged--dude, seriously, I'm a white girl; I actually have some Native American and some black in me, but for the most part, I'm Caucasian; I'm on food stamps. I get scholarships and financial aid for school, but I don't have much money. I come from a blue-collar background. My paternal great-grandfather and my ancestors came down from Hammerfest, the fucking northernmost part of Norway, to North America, and they were all pretty much dirt-poor. Do you think that's "privileged"? because I sure as hell don't think so.
I'm also seeing a lot of generalizations against men and boys. I can't tell you how many men (who are Caucasian, I should add) I've met and befriended who are very feminist. They're all for it. Shit, some of the best friends I've ever had were men. (On an unrelated note, the most beautiful person in the world to me is a man.) So don't generalize men and boys for the hell of it. I mean, for Christ's sake, there was a trend on Twitter not long ago and it was "kill all men". The only thing I could think of when I saw that was you're missing the point.
Are we seriously going to have to go back to Feminism 101 and reread the definition of it again? We are all human beings. We all have a sex and a gender. We all have different colored skins. No one is inferior nor superior to the other. And for some really bizarre reason, a lot of people, including a lot of you on here, don't deny it, choose to ignore that and instead believe that some people are more equal than others.
There's a saying in the world. It's "don't sink to their level." And it's true.

Instead of saying "kill all men", teach them. Teach men not to behave like that. Instead of generalizing, think about the exceptions to the rule, those who don't have that advantage. Don't do what they did. You're better than that, and so are they, so teach them.
In fact, I'll admit it if nobody else will: the other night, before the Grand Jury's announcement, and I saw a lot of posts saying "don't generalize", I thought "oh, good! There's finally some sense on this site." I haven't seen a single one since then.
But in the wake of everything that I've seen on my dashboard, all I see is contradiction. You're actually not doing yourselves any justice by generalizing and posing potential harm against other human beings no matter what.
But don't get me wrong. What's happening in Ferguson and Mexico (especially there, holy shitfuck) and Hong Kong and a whole lot of other places right now is inhumane. Darren Wilson.. I have no words for him, other than "why". The fact that we militarize our police as much as we do is insane (it's obviously never occurred to anybody that if you give your police force riot gear, a riot's going to break out; don't believe me? yell "fire" in a theater and watch what happens.) And I've had it to here with sexism.
I've blogged a couple of things related to Ferguson, but it was RIP Michael Brown, and wanting to give his parents a hug (and I really do, I want to give both of them a hug so badly), and wanting to boycott Black Friday because both of my parents have worked in retail and it's absolutely insane on Black Friday, especially now--6 o'clock on Thanksgiving night, just.. no--and I'm all for peaceful protesting, too, because we as American citizens have the right to do so.
And that was it, because everything else was imploring violence (which a lot of people, myself included, are sensitive to, by the way; you can imagine how I feel seeing all of those poor people in the state that they're in), and also because I'm a good person. I'm better than to sink to that level. And I know all of you are, too.
So I'm all for justice. And I see the good in people.
But there are some things in life, where you just need to stop for a minute and think about what you're doing when you make something like "kill all men" trend worldwide on Twitter or generalize and say all white people are evil.
By the way, don't be a holier-than-thou asshole and go "not everything is about you!!!" because a.) you're preaching to the choir, b.) think about what you're doing before you behave impulsively, and c.) I don't care what you think about me, not now, not ever.
