[looks from the bottle to her, putting two and two together with a sympathetic wince] You got sacked?
[Instead of answering, Marlene simply takes a swig, tilting her head toward the second bottle] Are you going to join me or are you going to make me look like an alcoholic drinking alone?

Right, of course. How silly of me.
Is there something youâd like to say to me, Emmeline, or are you going to continue acting like you know what weâre even talking about here?

I should start practicing right away, then. Though Iâm not sure how Iâll do it without my parents noticingâŚ
Donât you know? That sneakniess is part of the fun.

[opens his mouth to protest but just looks more confused for a second] Wait, what do you mean you were a bartender? Â Did you find a new job?
[Marlene stiffened for a moment, but then pushed the drink at him again] No.

Instead of yelling at me, why donât you just tell me your problems? You know Iâll be honest, and itâs not as if I care enough to tell anyone.
Right now, you are my only problem.

Iâm sure all the ladies find it to be your most desirable trait.

[Marlene had just been by the Leaky Cauldron to pick up her last paycheck and her last box of items from the inn. She had stored all of her things in the Orderâs Head Quarters, but Mad-Eye was only giving her until the end of the week to move them elsewhere. It was becoming a difficult decision. Her hope was that Mad-Eye would send her on the up coming mission. Then he would have to let her things remain at the Order while she traveled. The other option was, well, moving back home. She really wanted that mission]
Well, pay check, for your sake, I hope I learn how to budget in the next twenty-four hours...

I could probably swing a one-night show, but I canât promise that it would be any good.
You canât let me down.

I, um - [he blinks down at the bottle in her hand again and back up to her, closing and locking the door behind them and following her back into the living room] I donât⌠think I should drink much, actually.  Are you alright?  You seem very⌠manic, I donât know if drinking is the best bet right now anyway.
[she points her finger at him sharply] Donât call me manic. Iâm not manic. Manic is Trelawney or something. Iâm perfectly fine. I just want to sit down and have a drink. Does that make me a bad person? I think not. I was a bartender for goodness sake. If I was going to become an alcoholic, it wouldâve happened already. Now drink. [she shoved her other hand toward him, holding out the bottle]

Keep projecting your anger on me. Iâve grown immune to it.
[Marlene threw her hands up in the air, turning away from Emmeline] Iâm done. Iâm completely done. Merlin, God, Zeus, or whoever else is up there, please help me to curb my homicidal tendencies in this moment.
20 February 1980 || Remus
[Remus was curled up on the couch, mug of tea floating nearby and a book on his lap, even if he was still mostly focused on listening for Sirius coming home from HQ.  It was just his natural state of being, at this point - nervous and constantly on edge, waiting for some shoe to drop.  The knocking immediately tipped him off to the fact that it wasnât Sirius, and he was already halfway to the door before he heard Marleneâs voice and her attempt at forcing open the locked door, opening it and blinking at her in genuine surprise before he moved away to let her in, eyeing the vodka before looking back up at her.]  Uh, hey, Mars?  You⌠alright?  Sirius isnât here.
[As soon as Remus wasnât in her immediate way, she walked straight into the room as if the invitation had been extended. At this point, she wouldnât be kicked out if he tried. She looked around the room, as if confirming his statement] No matter. You drink too. Thatâs all I need tonight. A drinking buddy. It would be Red if she wasnât pregnant. Mary if she didnât have a lesson to teach in the morning. [She was speaking sporadically, as if a whole thought was barely finished before the next one came along. She turned back to him with the bottle held out] Drink?

You should. Youâve managed to make it to the top of a very, very, long list.
Who is at the bottom?
10 February 1980 || Diagon Alley
Ah, so you sent someone to St. Mungoâs? I assume youâre going to direct your frustration towards me anyways, so go ahead and rant. Just get me a drink first.
Why would I get you a drink? [Marlene scowled, growing more and more frustrated at the conversation at hand]

Sounds perfect. Be prepared for lots of success.
You can be my first dancer. [she teased]

20 February 1980 || Remus
[The entire last week had gone poorly for Marlene. On the tenth, she was fired. On the fourteenth, it was her birthday. On the eighteenth, she had been turned down by business after business. No one wanted a woman with her credentials and reputation. She had nine days left to get packed up and get out of Tomâs inn room. Nine days left to find a new place to live or end up spending the night on someoneâs sofa - if they would even have her. Pride had kept her from really telling anyone so far. After the third rejection this morning, Marlene had given up for the day. Instead, she had gone back to her room and packed. Now, it was near dusk and she couldnât take it anymore. She assumed Remus and Sirius would be home and at least a source of amusement. So, with two bottles of vodka in hand, she had headed straight for their place. She did knock on the door, but it didnât stop her from trying to push it open] Oi! Lemme in!

Do you not like this day? [Ophelia was about to offer more when the question caught her off guard. She blinked slowly, not having expected the woman to ask her that in a long time.] I am, heâs in that store right now. I am just waiting for him. [She shifts awkwardly from toe to toe.] Amos is one of the most romantic people I know. He is⌠a very good man. [Her voice was quiet, not wanting to rub it in Marleneâs face, but merely show that romance was not dead.]
[Marlene was aware of Opheliaâs instant discomfort, but she still couldnât bring herself to consciously care. The mood had already bitten her] Well then, isnât that nice. Perhaps you shouldnât keep him waiting long, you know. Men these days. They arenât exactly one-woman horses. [It was a low and untrue blow. Her mouth wouldnât stop moving.] The clerk in that store has a good arse on her.
