“What are you here for? Didn’t your father want you for something?”

“No, I came to see you.”

“For a good laugh?”

“Maybe.”

“Go ahead then, yuck it up.”

“Hahaha.” Kureto’s voice was humorless and dry.

“Use this,” said Kureto, holding out a handkerchief out to Guren.

But Guren ignored it.

Outside, Kureto’s car and driver were waiting.

“Want a ride? I can drop you off.”

“What the hell’s gotten into you?” Guren asked.

“I’m using your moment of weakness to try and get on your good side,” Kureto replied simply.

But there was no need for Kureto to get on Guren’s good side. Kureto’s authority was already absolute.

Kureto smiled without answering that question and got into the back seat of the car. “In any case, I’m glad to see you didn’t get yourself killed today. You’re an important piece on my board, Guren.”
