A while back Instarted hanging out with someone and we really hit it off and our friendship became so strong right away. We talked constantly every single day and hung out a bunch. Eventually I felt compelled to tell them that I have a big ass dumb ass crush on them and, in a high shock to me, they said that they also did. We talked about that, and how they weren’t ready to get involved with anyone just yet, and especially had some reservations about the fact that I had just gotten out of a relationship and didn’t want to be a rebound. So we decided to take some time and be really careful. Then all this lockdown shit happened, but we stayed talking all the time and we talked about feelings again and our feeling developed even further. It was really cool. But now a couple months later, during a period that I anticipated being even better because I moved out of the apartment I was living in with my ex and thought that would open us up to more like, FaceTime hang outs and shit like that, every day we talk less and less. And like, I get it. We are all living in a really emotionally overwhelming time. Every day that we have to stay isolated gets lonelier and lonelier, and that sadness is exhausting. On top of that, we both work in service and our industry has become so stressful. And then all the sociopolitical stuff happening, it’s just a lot to deal with. We are exhausted and are taking time to ourselves and that’s fine. But i just can’t help but feel like in the course of just a couple months, we went from having feelings for one another, to backing off and just being friends, to them having this feeling of general indifference toward me. And it’s like...as if I wasn’t lonely enough, now this, you know? It sucks.
