I can kinda see why Camus' philosophy gets labeled as Absurdism, but I feel the biggest irony is that everything about Camus, his belief systems, what he writes, the way he writes, the kind of readers that would resonate with him, seem so anti-Absurdist. The very fact that he was so anti-totalitarian and anti-fascist points to his strong belief that there is meaning in existence and it's an existence whose constant improvement is worth fighting for.

I feel like capitalists are caught between really believing that they have the power of democracy in their grasp, that they do have a finger over people's wants and needs, and that people buy their products because they genuinely like them over the competition. But at the same time, there is a cynicism that the only way to succeed in capitalism is by lumping people together and treating them as mindless robots with money. That for a business to truly succeed is to treat people as dumb, and the bottom line benefits the most and fastest when you cater to people's dumbest desires.
