Gonna be so honest I think gracerocky loses a lot of the importance of their relationship if you make it romantic.

The canon relationship they have is already perfect, and if you disagree and think them being romantic would be somehow more deep, important, and more meaningful, you should probably think about how you view platonic relationships and your own friends.

aspec people: ryland grace is a revolutionary character and project hail mary is an equally revolutionary story in today's day and age for many different reasons. the fact that the story isn't centered around romance and there's no boring and frankly unnecessary romantic plot thrown into it for no reason is just one of these reasons, and us aspec folks greatly appreciate this aspect of it. grace is undeniably extremely aroace coded, even more so in the book than in the movie, and we're grateful and beyond happy that so many people recognise and celebrate that — yes, even those of you who aren't aspec yourselves! grace being widely headcannoned as aroace is so amazing and it's so refreshing for us aspec folks to be in a fandom where we and our headcannons aren't frowned upon for once!

dude i don't normally like to dig at peoples fun i generally think people having fun is good but it is slightly disheartening when there's a really really good story about a strong platonic relationship and then the only thing the fans can do is ship the characters or worse make a crack ship with an unrelated character from another media because it's like they can't STAND a lack of romance in media like they absolutely must try to insert romance where it is absolutely not needed or relevant and honestly sours the story/media a lot more for me or they'll Die because they can't just be happy with a really good platonic relationship. it makes me very sad as a demiromantic girlie.

"i don't know who to be mad at anymore" is pretty indicitive that the problem is actually not other people's behavior. can i level with you? can we speak honestly here? being aro/ace is normal, being sex/romance repulsed is not. it's fine if you don't want to date people or fuck and you don't want to think about your blorbos doing that, but the degree to which it seems to upset you that other people do is unusual to put it lightly. the fact you feel betrayed when a community you are a part of discuss characters in a channel you choose to abstain from is probably not healthy.

go to therapy, or you can continue to let other people going about their lives in an also completely normal and acceptable way upset you to the point of tears on the regular.
