I've been reading a lot of poetry recently, and I've noticed a pattern between the portrayal love and the loyalty of a dog. Why are we so drawn to the way a dog loves? Is it the loyalty, is it the fact that we want to care for something, and be the only one that something knows as home? Or is it because, instinctively, we long for love to be as simple as waiting at the door?

People keep trying to find ways to simplify the human existence but that, in itself, is why our complexity makes the way we feel so distinct from any other living thing.

Summary:

“Is the saving worth the sacrifice, Whitaker?”

Robby’s breath warms his temple with the soft exhale of words, fingers finding something to do with the tangled mess of his bloodied scrubs. Dennis could tell him to stop staring at him like he was an atlas for regret—to leave their baggage at the door where they left everything else important about them to make room for another person's grief—but he doesn’t think it’d make much difference in the way things ended.

“Is the wanting worth the waiting?”

Or: Robby finally gets a chance to repay Dennis for his empathy during Pittfest.

Werewolf Robby, vampire Jack, and monster hunter Dennis with religious guilt.

Some shit happens and Dennis is on the verge of death and the only way to save him is by turning him, so Jack does.

Except now he's a freshly turned vampire who doesn't know how to do shit in his new body, so he's stuck with this old ass vampire and his hairy husband he tried to kill the week before.

All while grappling with the fact that he's become one of the monsters he was trained to kill.
