You met Tom in your psychology class. He just so happened to sit down next to you on the first day of class, and that was that. At first, he’d kind of annoyed you, trying to ask you questions about the content while the professor was talking. At first at the beginning of the semester, you would tell him to just pay attention. But then, as the semester went on, you realized that he really just did need help with some of the concepts; he wasn’t doing it just to be annoying.

Once you came to that realization, you didn’t mind helping him out. In fact, you really started to like talking to him. The two of you would both sit down and talk before class began, and instead of asking about class concepts, he would ask you about your life, and the two of you got to know each other pretty well that way. But it wasn’t until after Tom asked you to study with him, to be “study buddies,” that the two of you started to hang out outside of the classroom.

Hours passed and you still slept. You woke up here and there when nurses came to check on you and when Tom had gotten up to allow them to check but the second they left you alone, you fell right back asleep. There was a sense of ease throughout the room now. Your parents came and went freely. Harrison was in and out and even Tom felt like he could at least use the bathroom without fearing the worst. He still wasn’t leaving your side but he did feel relief, real relief and that’s what really matters.

Tom was practically begging you to give him a second chance, for you to forgive him and let him prove that he was worthy of you. He had messed up, he betrayed your trust and made you feel awful about yourself, but doesn’t everyone deserve the right to redeem themselves?

“Please…” His soft plea was not only audible, but it was also physical. His eyes were softer, his body for tense and eager to reach out to you. He was begging you with his whole body.

“Fine.” You breathe in a heavy sigh, feeling yourself cave in to the boy in front of you. He went out of his way to be here, so that you knew how he really felt. He cared about you after only one night of knowing each other.

“Thank you! You won’t regret this, I promise!” Tom was practically bouncing off of the walls with excitement. His heart was racing, and a smile was displayed on his face.

You prayed that this wouldn’t end up in a disaster. You prayed that your heart wouldn’t be broken when you come home to sleep the next morning, which was today due to the quickly passing time.

“May I offer you anything to drink, sir?” The bartender asked behind the golden counter as Harrison took a seat on one of the stools. The restaurant was filled with chatter from families, couples and business meetings. They all sat in round tables with expensive red tablecloths and a lighted candle in the middle of it. All of them just the same as the one Harrison had booked earlier that week.

“One whisky, please.” He adjusted his suit before checking the time on his watch. He gave the bartender a nod when he brought him his drink before taking a sip and speaking again. “A beautiful lady in a red dress is going to walk into the restaurant soon, send her a glass of red wine on my behalf.”

He took his wallet out, paying for both of the drinks plus a generous tip before he made his way to the back of the restaurant and to the table he had booked.

You pushed your hair behind you ear as you walked into the restaurant, greeting the hostess and letting her know you were meeting someone inside. She gave you a smile and you stepped through the red curtains and into the beautifully lit restaurant. You were running a few minutes late but knowing your date he wasn’t going to mind. It was you after all and he knew you better than anyone else. You glanced around the people chatting at their tables and moved your gaze to the bar, but there was no sign of him. Or at least you just couldn’t spot him from where you stood. You took a few steps towards the bar to try and get a better look around the restaurant but you had no luck.

Letting out an exasperated sigh, you took out your phone so could could dial his number when a voice to your left made you jump.

“Excuse me miss.” The bartender said to get your attention.

You pressed a hand to your chest, phone forgotten in your right hand as you turn to the mustached man. “Yes?”

“A blond gentleman, blue eyes and in a suit came here a couple of minutes ago, and sent this drink for you.” He pushed the glass of red one towards you and you blush. “It’s already paid for.”

“Do you happen to know where this gentleman is seated?” You said after clearing your throat.

The man pointed to the back of the restaurant and you waited for a waiter to move out of the way to see the familiar face of Harrison Osterfield smiling at you, raising his whisky in your direction.
