we’re at the final day! my vision for this cover was pretty simple, and i think i’m pretty happy with it as a draft. if i were to spend more time on this, i would want to work more on the type since i’m not sure if it completely fits the feeling i’m going for. overall, this blorbo june has been very fun, and i heavily appreciate anyone who has interacted with the event! thank you very much!

arthur meets oliver, a protagonist of one of my older stories. he lives in a world that is infected with monsters and only the best people are chosen through competition to live in protected cities!

i think arthur's home isn't a place or feeling, but instead the people he's with. for a while, amelia was arthur's only home. she was a reminder of a simpler time, and she made arthur feel at peace like everything was going to be okay. in return, i think arthur was amelia's home as well. she's not forthcoming about her life is with her respective god, but arthur is the only person around her that makes her feel alive. i don't have an official title for this god, but amelia lives in the domain of a nature-based god that feeds off people's minds. as a result, many followers of this god have given themselves up to live in a hivemind that feels like a paradise compared to current environments. she doesn't follow this god out of belief, but more necessity for survival than anything. sometimes, amelia thinks about joining the mass of followers who have surrounded themselves, but the idea of giving up on herself and losing everything she holds dear to her stops her.

eventually, when arthur is kidnapped by the rebellion against the gods, another home emerges for him. it takes trust and time, but arthur warms up to the people trying to help him and their place of safety becomes something he's willing to fight for and something he yearns to bring amelia to in hopes she can find happiness away from her god like he has

late, but i think arthur’s ideal type is someone kind and gentle. he admires people with steadfast beliefs, and he yearns for someone to share quiet, domestic everyday moments with.

though his relationship with julian is complicated, what arthur likes about him is that julian knows what he believes in and what he wants. arthur is someone who has never known that, so he can’t help but be interested in him. julian is also a genuinely kind person outside his cause of rebellion against the gods, which bothers him

for amelia, arthur loves her kindness. she is someone arthur yearns the most to have quiet moments with. he admires her warmth and how despite everything, amelia is always making an effort to be with him through everything. her consistency means the world to him

another text post kind of day! i think arthur is the type of person to get very expressive with his wings, despite not being able to fly with them. they shrink when he feels threatened and flutter when he’s happy. other angels are better at controlling this, but he’s not really good at that. he also has a tendency to pick at his feathers. before he got wings, he picked at his skin, but his wings became the natural replacement

i didn’t draw this prompt because i felt like i could convey it better with words. arthur works at the main “church” that worships the god the seraphim (or dove, for non-believers). for work, he essentially operate as a missionary of sorts. his duty, along with other angels, is to bring in followers to the seraphim. why this is needed is for strength against the other gods that have invaded country. essentially, the dove plays terf war and uses humans as pieces to battle with and claim domain. however, when the main story of portrait of a flame starts, this need for followers has increased dramatically. the reason for this is that the dove needs a new host as its body deteriorates

as a Thai person myself, it’s very important to me to make arthur being Thai play some sort of role in portrait of a flame whether that be in small everyday actions or how he perceives the world. i’ve yet to come up with most of this, but an early idea i had was that arthur not being a believer of the seraphim is due to him growing up buddhist. since worship of the dove largely stems from christian beliefs, i imagine he calls the seraphim “the dove” instead
