“The outside world is a dangerous place. Filled with horrible, selfish people. You must stay here, where you’re safe.”

“How about 23 out of 45?” 

“Wow, I could get used to a view like this.” 

“Guys, I want a castle.” 

“All the things we’ve seen and it’s only 8 in the morning!”

“I’m just teasing. Stop taking everything so seriously!” 

“Would you sing for me, darling?”

“Look at you, as fragile as a flower.” 

“I can’t believe that after all we’ve been through together you don’t trust me!” 

“Alone at last.”

"You know I hate leaving you after a fight, especially after I’ve done absolutely nothing wrong.” 

“Struggling is pointless.”

“I know why you’re here, and I’m not afraid of you.” 

“Hey. How are ya’? Name’s _______. How’s your day goin’?” 

“I’m prepared to offer you a deal.” 

“You broke my smolder.” 

“Stay calm. It can probably smell fear.” 

“Find your humanity!” 

“Woah! Somebody get me a glass, cause I just found me a tall drink of water!”

“You should know that this is the strangest thing that I have ever done!” 

“You can’t tell anyone about this, okay? It would ruin my whole reputation.”

“Well I hope you’re here to apologize.” 

“You okay?” 

“I’m terrified.” 

“I’m sorry. Everything is fine. There’s just something I have to take care of.” 

“Are you alright? Are you hurt?” 

“I’m the lost princess.” 

“You want me to be the bad guy? Fine. Now I’m the bad guy.” 

“What’s the password?” 

“I feel maybe this whole time we’ve just been misunderstanding each other.” 

“Okay. Let’s see how fast you can run!” 

“We are going where no one will ever find you again!” 

“No! I won’t stop! For every minute for the rest of my life I will fight! I will never stop trying to get away from you!” 

“I can’t let you die.” 

“No! No! What have you done?!” 

“You were my new dream.” 

“Did I ever tell you I’ve got a thing for brunettes?” 

Life was different as a swan. Time passed differently, large chunks of years disappearing in the blink of an eye. She had kept track of her curse for a month or two, before losing track.

Soon after her change she encountered another swan, the only other on Asgard apart from her sisters. While Odette could transform into a maiden by night, her partner stayed a swan eternally. They commuted in exchanged glances and occasional squaks, huddling together for warmth on stormy days. Odette came to trust this swan more than any other being on Asgard, though she knew not if her companion was once human or born a swan. Perhaps she was also a valyrie like Odette, cast out for disobediance. However, birds of a feather, they stayed together like balances on opposite sides of a scale.

They kept to the woods mostly, nibbling at seaweed. It was here that the pair spotted the sparkling wells. The holy pools - their favorite to drink from - appeared more and more frequently. Odette sometimes fell aslep next to the wells at night, wondering where they came from. 

The cracking of a twig rustled Odette’s feathers as she stared into the sparklng pool, Her partner shook her feathered head, forbidding Odette to investigate, but she fluttered away nonetheless as the sun began dipping under the horizon. 

No sooner had she settled by a fresh pool of light did a net ensnare her. Odette’s wings beat against the Asgardian net, squaking ceaselessly. She heard the draw of a bow, just as the sun disappeared.
