4d -Performance

OK, so I get that this came out super lame, but it really was the best I could come up with right now. I’ve been working 40 hours a week, taking 5 classes, and driving to boulder ever day to take care of my sister who broke her ankle in 3 places and is on bed rest until we can get her in for surgery. Besides, who doesn’t love bubbles? I am disappointed that I couldn’t put together something a bit more thoughtful or meaningful for this project. Also, the file size was huge so I had to trim it down to under 100mb so it’s slightly short.

I have a classmate in another of my classes named, Baker who is also going 4d. We came up with this funny idea of me shaking a baby doll for a minute. If I’d had more time or energy I probably would have done that.

As far as the performance part goes, I didn’t feel any anxiety or stage fright. I think that since I did this alone it didn’t really seem like a performance. I think it would have been different had we actually had to perform in class.

Artists Statement

My piece of video art is an exploration of motion synced to sound. There are 15 clips each of which is 4 seconds long. The sound track is synced to 120 beats per minute, so every 2 bars of music, the image changes. Within each individual clip, there is a reversal half way though. This gives the illusion that every bar of music, there is a distinct shift in motion.
