((writing long replies? more like:))
The blast was so loud that it bursted the holes Papyrus had on the side of his skull. It resonated in manners he had no desires of discovering. He wobbled about himself, falling face-first onto the ground to protect himself. The skeleton was unaware that the other had awoken despite the pleading he did previously. Unsure of what to expect from hearing such a blasting noise, Papyrus wanted to defend himself. The mouth of the weapon was wide, so there was no where to go but down. He plunged his body forward and brought his hands up to the back of his vertebrae. His legs lurched forward and bent, his body had jumped, all at the sound of the blast that exploded from the blaster’s inner-mechanism. And he swore, if but for just a moment in the silence that came afterwards, that he was dead. That his body had been incinerated. Feeling nothing, the skeleton thought he was brought somewhere, that there was an existence of those two places. He even contemplated where he ended up.
But thoughts came to a close and were abruptly ended by the force of a burnt piece of wood hitting him. He felt a clunk against his skull, he felt pain, he felt his head bouncing as the piece of his house ricocheted onto the floor. Papyrus gasped and threw his head up. Sockets were wide as he inspected the situation once again. In front of him was a brother who was in tears, shocked and appalled at what he did. Even higher still was a house with a hole. Result of the overpowered beam he had heard before. He was glad he protected himself, and he was overjoyed that his brother had come to. If he didn’t do anything, he would have much ended up like that hole. Destroyed, non-existent, decimated into multiple pieces.
Papyrus’ sockets then looked about the area. The magical flares were still plaguing the house. He didn’t want more and more to clean up within this place, let alone pay for roof repairs. In the short time span that Sans had to recover, the older skeleton flickered on his own magic powers, a blue pupil popping up out of no where in his left eye socket. He took this time to clean up the extra mess that had been scattered everywhere. He lifted up his hand, though weak from the prior carnage, giving his power a boost. After he felt it running through his being, he lowered the flames back down to nothing. He blew them away in seconds with a simple tuck of his hand. After that was completed, the fire in his eye was gone and the house was rid of anything magic or fire. The only serious damage was that of the hole in the roof of their house.
Before the distressed skeleton could actually have the time to get up and walk over to Sans and promptly get him back in his bed, he was swarmed by the familiar love of family. He was sitting up, his bones popping from going stiff. He could feel the tension pulse through his body as he moved. Sockets were stuck on the floor – they had tried to look up, but Sans had interrupted them. Papyrus himself was trying to stand on his own two feet, and the moment he brought his chest up, he was head-first into a white shirt that only filled an empty void as he was embraced. Pushed farther and farther into the white and he felt vertebrae touch his skull.
A gaze upward, avoiding anymore whiteness that plagued his vision. His sockets ascended with the angle of his neck and upon collision, a look of relief and satisfaction had overwhelmed him. It was Sans. His younger brother was looming over him like a scared dog, it’s tail shaking uncontrollably behind it’s legs. A nervous, shaky sigh that sounded like a fake laugh had came out of the skeleton’s mouth. With a groan, Papyrus sat up and stretched out as much as he could. His bones ached from the previous assault, and his mind was far from calm. Albeit, it would be a lie if the skeleton wasn’t relieved.
As soon as he sat up, arms outstretched and pulled in Sans for a close, tight hug. Arms stretched out and wrapped around his ribcage, grabbing a hold of his hoodie to tug him in closer. Once they were as close as possible, yearning digits traveled to the back of his younger brother’s skull. He squeezed him tightly. Papyrus was glad they were both alright.
“ THERE YOU ARE.
SANS, YOU HAD ME WORRIED THAT YOU WOULDN’T WAKE UP. YOU ARE AWARE THAT YOU ARE IN REALITY NOW, RIGHT? I AM YOUR BROTHER, YOU ARE MINE. YOU ARE AT HOME.
BETTER YET, YOU’RE WIDE AWAKE!!! YOU’RE N O T DREAMING ANYMORE! “
Sans welcomed his brother’s embrace wholeheartedly, small whimpers that escaped him before morphing into choked out sobs. No matter how many times he’s had these nightmares, he fell for them every time. And any time Papyrus came to help, he just felt so safe, so relieved that he still had someone to call family.
“pap, o-oh my god, bro... y-you’re here, i-i’m here... i...
i’m sorry...! i...”
Sorry didn’t begin to describe it. Often times he was so afraid of his strength, and too many times he had experienced nearly losing a brother, even in reality. What did he even do to deserve these burdens? Was the anomaly still so unsatisfied, did it want to torture him? Who the hell knows.
His anxiety started to make him hyperventilate a little, but he valued comfort over his need for space. All he wanted was his big brother right now as he cried and wailed.
“i... i just... i-i dunno how much more of this i can take, papyrus...
i hate it...! i hate it!!”
As if taking control of the skeleton’s soul wasn’t enough, the little brother had to maliciously abuse the older by throwing him around like a dog toy. He was thrown up so quickly that Papyrus could barely feel anything but intense suffocation. It felt as if his body was overwhelmed, it felt as if something had not only snatched his soul, but yearned for it so much that they crushed it under his fingers. The grip around his being felt like a grip of utter rage. Whatever Sans was experiencing, just by feeling this sensation on him, he knew he had to stop it. For a moment, as he was lifted up, a quick gasp was inhaled. Papyrus remembers that argument they had a while back, where Sans took control of him and threw him against the wall. It was out of a blind attempt to get his way, but they made up in the end. What Papyrus was more concerned about, was the fact that he could barely feel freedom in his grasp. Back when they argued, the controlling happened slowly. Yet now, it felt like Sans wanted to throw his brother around.
Papyrus was too focused on trying to free himself, even though he knew it wouldn’t work. He has the same powers himself, and his used it on his bones as well as some plants in the forest. Those within the grasp are immovable and cannot grasp reality until they are released from the magic that kept them captive. Yet still the skeleton shook. He kicked his legs and thrashed his arms, letting out worried shrieks and yells as he was thrown around. Thankfully no bones were broken this time, though close to. Papyrus was thrown into a sharp row of bones that he was slammed into at full force. His younger brother put all he could in that blow, throwing his arm down as hard as he could by his thigh.
A long and exasperated grunt was heard from Papyrus, as well as the soft sound of cracking and falling dust. It poured for a few moments, but nothing more than that. Pain surged through his entire skeletal system. His toes shook, his thighs seized, his head jerked back, Papyrus’ ribs contracted from the sting that traveled around his body. He wanted, oh did he want to just scream out in pain – to let out all the pain and fear he felt in that moment. But he couldn’t. He couldn’t do that. His facade was a part of it – even if Sans was lost in surreal madness, he couldn’t let weakness show. Not only that, but he learned in his years of raising his little brother, that he couldn’t show that he wasn’t in charge of a situation. Especially one such as this. He needed to make sure that he too, would remain calm. If not, the situation would escalate and drastic measures would have to be imposed. Measures that the skeleton wanted nothing about.
But barely did he have the time to rest. A few tears slipped out of his sockets as he squinted his face, but Papyrus spent too much time trying to keep calm. He tried not to scream and cry, he tried not to shake so much. But he hadn’t felt a pain as harsh as this since he was a little child. He remembers punch after punch, and even then, nothing compared to this. Perhaps it was because his brother was inducing this splitting ache. It would make no sense though, Papyrus’ mind would ramble on as he sat up slowly, his hand trying to find the fracture. For he knew Sans better than to hurt him like that.
Digits traced vertebrae as Papyrus searched for the fracture. He focused so intensely on that, that by the time Sans prepared his next attack, the skeleton just barely missed it. After he couldn’t find where the injury was, the older brother slowly twisted his head towards his brother. A part of him had hoped that all of it was over, what with the pause that happened. Even if the pause was quite brief, he could tell that Sans had found some motivation in this fight. This nightmare was fueling his old enthusiasm – Papyrus was happy that he could have that back, but not in this way. As his head had churned and popped over to meet Sans, he was not brought with peace, but with war.
Bone after bone after bone after bone – a whole row of them.
Papyrus panicked, a short scream escaping his jaw.
Papyrus’ own flame exploded for a moment out of the sheer terror.
Life flashed, but thankfully, the memories stopped. Papyrus put a swift hand behind him, which served as a shove to push himself up. He used all of his weight in a matter of seconds to plunge himself up off of the ground, his hand being the spring and his legs being the force that moved him forward. Such adrenaline made him stumble, arms flailing for a few moments in front of him. His legs had rattled about as he was thrown forward by his own might, surprised that he actually made it out of his little brother’s line of sight. Even more so, after he felt the soft breeze of bones graze by on his fibulae.
Heavy breathing and a racing soul( that was ecstatic to be free from such a horrific grip ), Papyrus churned his head to face Sans again, and what he saw probably could have destroyed all hope he had right then and there. For a moment, he was at a loss of words. He had absolutely no idea what to say. He saw a blaster – he had heard about it before from Sans, about how he was building it with the scientists back at the lab. He gulped when he saw it, the whole underground him suddenly void of any life whatsoever. It was if someone put a hole in the middle of the room, sucking in everything but the two skeletons, and the blaster. The aura within it’s mouth grew harsher, and the hole grew larger. The suction from such a powerful vacuum asphyxiated the skeleton, leaving him at a loss for words. He was quite literally stunned in fear.
That was when he realized that if he didn’t stop Sans, he would die.
The begging was quiet at first.
Slow… repetitive, but slow.
But it increased with the power of the aura within the blaster’s mouth.
It got louder and louder, more and more intense – Papyrus was reaching out now, taking a couple of steps forward. His hand was extended out in front of him, begging his little brother to stop, to calm down. Anxious sockets flickered back and forth, back and forth, double-taking not only the weapon and his little brother, but his own life which once again had flashed before his eyes. Steps were increasing, calls were booming.
Until he was dashing at his brother now, hand still extended, sockets focused on his brother’s, trying to get him to stop. Papyrus was screaming now, calling out to the real brother, underneath the lucid seams –
“ SANS ! ! ! ! ! ! YOU’RE DREAMING. YOU HAVE GOT TO TRY TO STOP ! ! ! I-IF YOU DO NOT, YOU’LL BE SORRY! “
Gaster blasters. Powerful weapons, indeed. Sure they could only do one damage, but the catch was that they dealt one damage every single millisecond you wasted your time in the blast instead of being out of its way. His old friend taught him the trick well.
As he prepared the attack, Sans swore he heard his brother’s cries, but he brushed it off as, ironically, his imagination. However each call of his name became more prominent, and it couldn’t be ignored.
Dreaming,
Stop.
You’ll be sorry.
That was the instant he snapped awake. The hall disappeared, and in the brief second he gained consciousness of his surroundings, he saw the blaster in reality, and Papyrus right in front of him. In that single moment of unbridled fear, he haphazardly thrust his arm upward to command the blaster to shoot upwards instead. The aura turned into a powerful beam and blasted a hole though their roof, snow and burnt pieces of wood raining down on the both of them.
As the blaster disappeared, Sans teetered for a second, the last of his strength depleting from him before he collapsed. The anxiety from these nightmares always got the best of himself, and with this added physical stress, he gave out from sheer exhaustion. He wasn’t asleep again, just merely disoriented for those few moments.
As he awoke again, he attempted to pick himself up with a small groan, the last of the magic in his eye dissipating. When he arose, he saw the damage he had done, but he was almost to relieved that he was in his own home to worry about it.
Still, the blue flames (although dying down now), the wreckage from the roof... what had he done...?
He looked to his older brother--oh God, his brother, thank God he was alright--and stared for a moment before stumbling up rushing over, wanting to be comforted and protected.

Papyrus’ halt came with a sharp skid. He dashed down the steps the moment he recollected reality, and as soon as he reached his destination and turned, he was frozen solid. There in front of him, was a brother so lost in the fabric of dreams that he was lost in the surreal nightmare of fantasyland – sleepwalking. The skeleton observed quietly at first, tightening his jaw with a grit of the teeth. He inspected carefully, and his mind raced on and on about what he could do in this situation. When he came to a skidding stop, his carpals had burned from the intense friction on the carpet. He had looked down to investigate his physical status, and used that time to formulate a plan. A quick one.
His feet seemed fine, slightly numb from the burn, but other they had no damage. Good. The skeleton could move on swifter now. He could go back into the swing of the things. A concerned face slowly glanced upward to meet his brother’s. He didn’t seem very happy on the outside; Papyrus could tell that the other’s mindset was still lost in the clouds of unconsciousness. He gulped somewhat, his mind wandering off in a midst of madness, thinking about what Sans could have been seeing. He didn’t seem very friendly, outwardly, but Papyrus knew much better than to judge a book by it’s cover. For he himself knew the pain of being nothing but a torn jacket with old, typewriter font. Nobody even wanted to look at him; he knew that there could be someone past an outer mold. Giving second chances is a part of Papyrus’ morale.
The skeleton’s sockets squinted somewhat. He proceeded carefully and with an extensive stare at extreme caution. Arms were lifted by his sides, nearly as graceful as molasses, but still dramatically, as if Papyrus was trying to apply safety to the situation as much as he could. A step forward, watching his brother closer. He knew one wrong move could bring his brother into an even further insanity – Papyrus has seen it. He has dealt with this before. Another step.
Papyrus lifted his head, and that’s when the talking came.
“ SANS …
I CANNOT SEE WHAT YOU’RE SEEING RIGHT NOW. I ACTUALLY DON’T KNOW IF I W A N T TO SEE IT. I PROBABLY DON’T WANT TO.
BUT, WHATEVER IT IS, I CAN ASSURE YOU, IT ISN’T REAL. YOU ARE IN REALITY. YOU ARE SLEEPWALKING. YOU ARE DOING… WHAT YOU NORMALLY DO.
JUST… COME HERE. LET ME READ YOU A BEDTIME STORY. THAT WAY YOU CAN THINK ABOUT THAT INSTEAD! “
Papyrus got no response from Sans as he attempted to reason with him. You can’t negotiate with someone who can’t even hear or see you. In his mind he gave a monologue he could probably rehearse word for word even in the real world.
‘ ‘cause if you take another step forward... you are REALLY not gonna like what happens next.’
And his brother and the human did so in perfect sync. Sans was silent again for a few more moments. Letting the rest of his wordy speech play out before he went on another barrage of destruction. And now this time, he had an actual target.
His psychokinetic powers thrust the other skeleton down, straight into a multitude of bones rising from the floor to meet him. With Sans sleepwalking, he wasn’t quite using his focused strength, but he was still pretty rough with his sibling. He sent another wave of bones toward Papyrus as he released him from his psychic grip, then thrust his hand outward again, yet nothing happened to Papyrus. Instead he was summoning something, and that something came as quick as could be.
The large head of a monstrous, fanged skeleton being faced the older brother. The creature hissed and growled, slowly opening its jaw as a ball of pure energy began to charge on the inside of its mouth.
If Sans didn’t snap out of his delusional trance soon, Papyrus would be obliterated by this thing in a matter of milliseconds.
recogniticn:
To Papyrus, his dreams were much like those of an average monster. He barely had any, and when he did, they were plastered onto his memory and painted in his banks forever. The skeleton could probably sit down and pick out with almost vivid detail, the points when he could remember his dreams. It didn’t happen often; an unfortunate drawback when it comes to being a monster. Though, if the skeleton did reach deep enough into the trenches of his mind, he could pull out old flashbacks of dreams from when he was a child. A child exposed to loneliness, and the exposure causing his bones to burn at the touch of harsh words. Insults were knives that would cut off his head, dirty jokes and rumors were the stakes that would pin him to a tree so people could practice their verbal assaults by shooting arrow upon arrow right into his soul. He remembers those dreams as clear as day, back then.
But now, they rarely happen. It was an uncommon occurrence, and when Papyrus did have a dream, he always thought that it meant something for later. Something so big and drastic that he needed to get to the bottom of it before it could ever occur. Usually he did, and he would speak no word to it unless his little brother asked him. Which, unless he was showing his weakness, barely ever happened. But that, to the older brother, came as absolutely no surprise. Sans was a pile of bones that meant privacy. A skeleton that spoke humor, and barely knew when to be serious. A fantastic mix that morphed into a sibling that though can be extremely disobedient and annoying at times, Papyrus loved with all his heart.
So much that upon hearing the screams from Sans as he walked down the hall, he was shot from his slumber. Another dream wiped away – a picture on the chalkboard he would never think about again. But his thoughts weren’t on his unconscious vision, but his brother who was desperately calling for assistance. Legs sprung up in the air, a checkered blanket thrown aside by a single thrash of the arm. Papyrus didn’t care to change his clothes; the facade was dropped the moment he heard his little brother screaming at the top of his lungs. His soul raced, and his mind trudged the infinite outcome of horrifying possibilities. His fears were the very worries that made him run forward.
“ SANS?!?!?!?!?! “
Papyrus grabbed onto his door and slammed the door open, his hand glued onto the interior of it while he inspected the area. His sockets grew to the size of baseballs, and his jaw dropped down to his feet. He stared at the disaster that wiped through his household, looking as if he had left the kitchen oven on for too long. Bright blue flames engulfed everything, though at the same time, as Papyrus investigated the scene from the doorway of his room, it seemed as if nothing was burning. That was a good indication that that was the power of magic, That these flames weren’t harmful to anyone who lacked a soul. Thankfully none of the furniture in this house did, but even so, it still filled the skeleton with shock.
Hands were thrown to his temples in fear. He glanced around at the destruction, at the chaos, watching some of the items topple over from the weight and the flow of the flames beneath him. Digits rubbed at his skull as his soul edged faster and faster, skipping beats and beats of peace and happiness. Fear took over more as he watched a scene from hell unfold, right in front of his very eyes. Just as his sockets popped wide, they receded back down to their average size, growing ever smaller still. Dreams became memories, memories became dreams and the thoughts of his past and his brother flashed all in front of him in one moment. It was an overwhelming situation, one that brought Papyrus shock. His mind toggled through possible outcomes, flipped through window and page of what to do to handle such a situation.
“ HOLY CRAP ! ! ! WHAT AM I GONNA DO; T-THE HOUSE IS ON FIRE!!!?!?!?
NYEH!! I GOTTA FIND SANS!!! HE PROBABLY WAS THE ONE WHO DID THIS. “
All of his mind exploded in front of him, but within a matter of two seconds, he was back to reality. Everything had loaded correctly, the malware of panic had been eradicated, and the regular Papyrus was returned. Hands that were rubbing his temples and bracing his skull, were now thrown outward by his thighs. Shaky tarsals rattled about as Papyrus realized the severity of the damage. The fear inside of him had morphed into that of leadership. He now had motivation. He now had courage. He would purge through the magical flames, rush downstairs and try calling out to his brother.
He needed to find him.
He needed to grasp the situation, and stop the fires.
But first things first – calm the source.
Stop Sans from having the nightmare.
Sans now sat huddled on the floor in the living room, the magical flames surrounding him like a fierce inferno. A roaring turmoil much like the internal conflict inside of him. His fears were relentless and was taken much advantage of in this vision. Everything he was so scared of was right here in front of him, and it felt all too real.
But now, he was taken right back to the golden judgement hall as he heard what sounded like the faintest of footsteps in the back of his mind. For anyone else, they could plainly see it was his loving brother approaching.
But in his mind, he had no brother anymore. Papyrus was ripped away from him. All he saw was the human.
The seemingly zombified skeleton rose, the magic surrounding him dying down only slightly. Sans’s heavy eye sockets seemed to stare right through his brother, focusing on a much shorter figure. He remained still, with only slight twitches here and there throughout his bones.
He seemed to be waiting for someone to make the first move.
@recogniticn
A bad dream was never uncommon. But Sans’s lucid visions could hardly be classified as mere dreams. He could barely get a decent night’s sleep unless he wanted to be plagued with these nightmares. It was why he often took naps instead.
They often seemed to be the same setting over and over. A golden hall, him, and the human. Everyone was dead, and they had killed them. And he had to stop them.
Sometimes, he would win, but other times...
‘heh, did you really think-’
And that was the end. He would then wake up in a cold sweat, eye flaring but slowly dying down as he calmed himself. That or Papyrus aided him in doing so.
One particular night, the pictures in his mind stirred to life as he lied down on his grimy mattress. While he was stuck in the land of dreams, his left eye started to spark and set itself aflame. He stirred for a moment before his eye sockets shot open.
However he could not see what was before him. His mind clouded truth and only let the horrors in this vision continue on. His body rose practically by itself as he unwillingly trudged out of his room, as the nightmare got worse and worse.
He saw his brother’s remains, only his dust and his battle body left. Now his mind told him to seek revenge, eye flaring even more at the thought. The ember practically engulfed his skull as he raged on in sheer anger and vengeance.
Unbeknownst to himself, in reality, his actions carried out into the real world, a multitude of bones causing a ruckus in the skeleton siblings’ household, his magical flare spreading and destroying everything as if he was possessed by his dreams. His thoughts were so vivid that they now bled into the real world. He clutched his skull and cried for his brother, though slurred and whiny in the waking world were heart-wrenching in his vision.
He cried and cried, but to him, nobody came.
I am an impulsive roleplayer.
I let my muse take the reins and decide what threads to start or reply to in a given day. If the muse doesn’t feel it, it isn’t happening. That doesn’t mean that I hate you or that I no longer want to interact with you; I probably either lost our thread or my muse just said, ‘nah bro.’
I’m sorry I drop threads. I’m sorry I don’t reply to memes. I’m sorry I ignore my asks. I’m sorry I plot things and then don’t do them. I’m an impulsive roleplayer: my muse guides me.
Roleplaying isn’t my job: it’s my hobby. I do it for fun. My muse isn’t my coworker: my muse is my friend. We have fun together. If I started treating this as a job, it wouldn’t be enjoyable for me anymore, and the quality of my content would diminish greatly!
And while we’re on the subject, just because a thread gets dropped does not mean the relationship between our muses is dead!! Thread =/= relationship! We can start something new and continue building their bond! Relationships are important to building new aspects of our muses!
I always want to roleplay with you. Just…perhaps not with that thread. You feel?

GET FUCKING DUNKED ON, DUNKLE.
Mmm whatcha saaaay.
“I-I don’t wanna lose you.” Frisk whispered, her voice soft and fragile but calming down slowly thanks to the hug she was given back. Frisk nuzzled closer, burrowing her head against his chest. She was afraid. Afraid of how real it was. Afraid of the pure hatred Sans looked at her with that one bright blue orb. She never wanted to see that look on his face directed to her. She loved him. All of them…she could never see her hurting any of the people she now called her family. It was terrifying.
The tiny human whimpered like a scared kitten and refused to let him go even after her tears dried up with the cold air around them. “…Y-You promise…?” Frisk asked quietly, hope in her shaky tone. “Please…I-I don’t wanna hurt anyone. I can’t. I-I never wanna dream like that ever again.”
Man, she really cared, didn’t she? About him, about all of the monsters down here...
Maybe, just maybe a reset won’t happen if she really didn’t want to start all over again and slaughter everyone for what seemed like fun. He found many signs leading to the human before him, yet it also seemed like a force greater than her or any one of them. He mentally kept his fingers crossed in hopes that this peace wasn’t all just a dream.
He held onto the child just a little tighter as she still embraced him, not planning to let go until she wanted to first.
“i... i promise, kid. but you gotta promise to me to talk about these dreams if they ever happen again, alright?”
