Daily Life as an Exchange Student
You actually do work.
You actually study.
Sometimes you and your roommate may not get along, that’s ok.
Or you’ll change roommates due to life, then maybe you’ll get lucky and develop a nice relationship with them.
Try to maintain a balance between exploring/going out and your grades.
In Hong Kong, invest in Mobidick (a brand of bug bite medicine). It helps, A LOT.
If you want to travel, try to budget your trips.
Also, be smart with your money. Street food or school food only.
Splurge sometimes but not all the time unless you got the funds.
Day 72: Afterthoughts
It has officially been at least one day since my country, the United States, voted T R U M P to be our lovely commander in chief.
I have had at least 24 hours to process this and I cannot say with confidence that I am accepting of it. I have seen footage of my friends at rallies and protests. My heart aches because I cannot be there with them and my fellow Californians to speak out against the hatred promoted from within the campaign who we will soon call Mr. President.
I have never cried so much. This has been the second presidential election that I have been able to vote in since turning 18. I do not know what to do with myself but to slowly come to accept the reality that I now live in where a reality star is the leader of the “Free World” and the most powerful person on the planet with access to nuclear codes.
I know that I have been lacking in update on this blog but I only realized today that a big reason as to why I chose now to study abroad is partially because of the long election. I wanted to play ignorance to the fact that this very nation that my family gave up everything and worked so hard to arrive to, has become hell on earth for those seeking haven from war torn regions. Wars that we as Americans contributed and would not acknowledge responsibility for.
2016 marks the year where I can no longer believe democracy’s existence in the US.

day five
day four 🤔
DAY THREE: breakfast and Pokemon go 😬
DAY TWO: HONG KONG my views
DAY ONE: HONG KONG
HELLO HONG KONG! I have arrived!!!
The first day of being in HK was relatively eventful. I woke up at 5am to head to the airport and arrived there around 6? it's just great to have no traffic especially if you're from the Los Angeles area.
I met and made a new friend on the flight who was also from my hometown area who is also attending the same school as me, CUHK! Once we landed, we basically teamed up to go to the campus together but first, we had to meet up with my aunt's friend who was there to help me navigate around.
There was some miscommunication and we were on opposite sides of the arrival hall so that delayed our arrival on campus. However, the strangers we asked for help were really friendly and we got to campus around 7 I presume?
Met some fellow exchange students on campus who were heading to the same direction as well. I forgot to get their names but hopefully I would bump into them soon~~ Here are some of the pictures I took on snapchat from yesterday (day one).
