the    first    you    feels    it,    he    comes    running.    you’re    not    supposed    to    be    looking    out    towards    the    field,    not    really.    you’re    supposed    to    be    focused    on    alex,    on    the    same    boy    that    put    you    on    the    goddamned    list.   he’s    trying    to    explain,    something    about    being    sorry    and    not    truly    getting    what    it    would    mean    for    either    of    you.    but    you’re    focused    on    the    field.    something,    or    rather    someone    seems    to    be    trying    to    pull    you.     and    you’ve    heard    people    explain    the    link.    how    it    feels.     like    a    line    connecting    you,    and    pulsing    with    emotions.    you    can’t    help    but    feel    the    adrenaline,    the    excitement,    it’s    intoxicating.

you    feel    it    constantly.    like    he’s    always    there,    but    not   truly.    sometimes    during    the    night,    you    jerk    awake    because    his    feelings    are    so    strong    and    he    feels    close    to    death.    you    ignore    it,    and    try    not    to    pry.     he   will    tell    you    if    he    wants.

the    link    seems    much    more    intense    when    he    close.    and    especially    if   he    touches.    can   he    feel    you?    can    he    feel    you    too?

it    takes    him    a    while    to    ask.    far    too    long    if    you’re    being    honest.    it’s    almost    as    if    he’s    trying    to    see    if    its    your    feelings    and    not    someone    else’s.    but    you’ve    long    realized    that    it’s    him.   that    he’s   the    soulmate,    the    one    you’re    tethered.

and    even    through    hard    time,    and    when    he’s    far,    you    can    feel    him.    and   that’s    enough.
