Reacting to rare Queen songs: I Guess We're Falling Out

If you listen carefully the beginning of the song has the same intro as My Baby Does Me, which was also made for the Miracle.

So this is a Brian song, and like all the best Brian songs the lyrics is so beautifully brought over by Freddie's vocals. I think the lyrics of this are immaculate.

Sometimes Brian's lyrics are very mysterious and layered, sometimes he just opens a song with 'you stabbed your knife right in my back'. I think the lyrics here is right in line with the rest of Brian's music in the late 80s-90s when his life and love-life is kind of becoming very complicated. Falling out, could mean to be in an argument, fighting. But it could also very well mean falling out of love, which I think he is obviously contemplating that both are happening with his relationship.

See the lyrics here is something that could very well be a verse from Too Much love Will Kill You: 'Was it just something that I might have said. Does this mean we're falling out? I guess this means that our love has fallen out.'

The chorus! This song has such a wonderful simple but so very Queen-like chorus, more on that here below.

This song is so extremely strong, I find it genuinely sad it is not on The Miracle (or Innuendo, where it would arguably fit better). You know a song is strong when you can sing it along the second time listening to it, specifically the chorus.

I think this really has more of an Innuendo vibe with the choir-like chorus, something more grand which we kind of see in All God's People and I Can't Live With You.
