OKAY!! So, the first one is NOT MINE it is an edit of the “Old Friends” Poster that I found online but I don’t think I can find the OP?? I got it from Pinterest and they credited Jose Ramirez (@JoseRam18675569 on Twitter) BUT I don’t have Twitter so I can’t verify it 😭 Please lemme know if you have Twitter and can check with Jose for crediting because their account is private. Anyways, I edited the pic more by darkening Katara’s and Sokka’s skin, widening Sokka’s nose, not making Toph’s skin blinding white, giving Suki a jawline, giving Zuko some eyeliner, aND EDITING THAT GOD DAMN AWFUL WHITE GUY BEARD OFF OF AANG! I also made his jawline broader, which I’m still kinda iffy about (does it look weird? I can’t tell 😩) and rounded his nose a bit. I know that the original photo was supposed to be shot in a weird old-timey light or whatever but they were still wayyy to light for me, and I can’t stand the whitewashing. Please please please tell me if I should change something because I definitely can and will. If you wanna use my edited version, please ask me first and credit me @/babytreehugger but like I said, the first one is not mine and I am not taking credit for it at all. If the OP asks me to remove it, I will.

this? this is disgusting. the fact that an entire sect of the fandom can turn a blind-eye to someone literally calling a fandom full of woc animals (and don’t think we haven’t heard the “zoo” jokes and heard the ableist “zutaras belong in mental hospitals” lines) and support them after they stole an edit from a minor is beyond me. 

if you’re sitting there defending /japanese after they literally called an entire fandom animals and told them to kill themselves over a ship, you are a terrible human being. it’s fucking disgusting. and now they’re going after the woc minor who made the post by calling her transphobic, homophobic, and racist. 

people don’t not ship zukka because they’re homophobic, people got turned off the ship because of assholes like this. and just because this person is a trans poc doesn’t mean that they can’t be an asshole. you can’t hide the fact that you’re calling people animals who deserve to die over fictional characters behind your identity. your identity doesn’t inherently make you a good person.

nobody gives a fuck about the post getting 3k notes for laughing at a ship. anti zutara metas get that many all the time, anti kataang ones get that all the time. they’re jokes, and that’s fine. the entire fucking problem is that the edit was used without credit. how hard is it to not steal fanwork? seriously? 

the fact that the rest of avatar fandom turns a blind eye any time shit like this happens is so telling. y’all are ready to attack real people over cartoon characters from a show from 2008. your funny memes aren’t worth more than basic etiquette. your funny jokes aren’t worth more than real marginalized people. 

1) when have i harassed anyone? i’m tagging my posts #anti zukka, because i am several years younger than these people but i have enough decency to tag my ships correctly. if they don’t want to see what i’m saying, they don’t have to.

2) they’re an asshole. i don’t care about how they identify, they are an asshole who is attempting to justify hate and death threats. i am a poc and i can tell you that does not exempt me from being a bad person. they are a grown adult who is refusing to give credit to a minor and several minors have been harassed for months by these people. 

3) if you search up any atla ship on the internet you’d find fanart. just because it’s there doesn’t mean you don’t credit it if you repost. don’t repost what other people put work into is basic human decency, but none of these people would know that because they think that their identities exempt them from it. 

asking people to act accountable and decent isn’t transphobia, homophobia, racism, or whatever they’re spouting now. these are the bare minimum standards for being like . . . decent people? 

If you actually scrolled through the Zutara tag, you would realize that a lot of people are making new content for Zutara Month. There’s constantly amazing art being put out and outstanding fics on Tumblr and AO3.

Because it’s really starting to look like it. You really should have just blocked me and moved on instead of making that post and tagging Zutara when Zutara literally wasn’t mentioned in the edit that I made. Literally nowhere. I don’t even ship Zutara. You had no right going into the tag like that and calling people roaches and a disease based off of a shipping preference. 

Sokka isn’t canonically queer. People can have different headcanons about Sokka, and I just happen to headcanon him as straight. Please enlighten me and tell me how I’m being homophobic over headcanoning someone, who was shown to be attracted to women and only women on the entire show, as straight.

no, the zutara fandom does not have 3k+ notes on a meme bashing other ppl's ships because, for the most part, we don't bash ships! for the most part, we're respectful! for the most part, we simply mind our own business!

if you're going to victimize yourself, at least make sure you're actually the victim (or else, you're making yourself look dumb as hell)

wishing physical, bodily harm on another human being because they have a different ship than you is wrong. calling them animals is wrong. sending them death threats on anon is wrong. bullying minors and stealing their work to make fun of them is wrong. being a terrible person and a bully toward others is wrong. gaslighting the people you're hurting for the fun of it is wrong

i'd say to grow up, but there are minors who are acting more mature than certain bullies within the atla fandom right now, and that would be an insult to them and their maturity

I’ve had an interaction or two with them. They were not pleasant. At all.

I’m sorry that that’s been going on now. Those who don’t follow proper Tumblr etiquette are so frustrating and disrespectful. I truly do feel as though those sorts of people have malicious intent toward those that they’re targetting, simply due to the fact that tagging is important! 

Improperly tagging a post could cause someone to be triggered or to have a relapse or anything like that, even with things as “simple” as ship tagging or things as vital as trigger warning tagging.

For a fandom that’s constantly telling those who disagree with them to “get help” or “seek help from a professional” or “go to therapy,” the radical Zukkas certainly don’t do a very good job with basic human respect and proper tagging.

Also, anyone who’s targeting minors needs to take a step back and evaluate themselves because that’s disgusting.

And then to imply that zks don’t know the definition of oppression when so many of us experience it literally every day as BIPOC? TONE DEAF. AND THEN for some other asshole to agree with it and to say that zks should be studied in psych classes which is not only ableist (by assuming we’re mentally ill) but also racist to imply that BIPOC women should be studied like cases. And the fact that one of them is white is even worse.

People shouldn’t be sending you hate. They should be thanking you for actually editing the characters to look like their intended ethnicity.

As an indigenous woman, I can tell you that your edit means a lot to me. It was really disheartening to see all my favorite characters from childhood be whitewashed like they took a swim in bleach. It might seem silly to some people to think it’s just a lighter shade, but it’s really not.

When you are surrounded by people on TV as a kid who looks nothing like you or is made into a stereotype, it can damage your identity and how you can see your culture. Atla is by no means perfect, but it’s the first time I saw an indigenous woman who was not just “pretty” or meant for only “domestic life.” I saw a woman who took charge, made human mistakes but ultimately decided to never back down from a fight and do everything. Katara was the first character of indigenous blood that said, “I can do it all, and I’ll do it while keeping my hair looking flawless.”

Overall, this edit was really heartwarming because LOK basically erased all her personality and her basic indigenous features.

What sucks is that the majority of new Zvkka shippers not only are okay with it but embrace and diminish Katara as nothing more than a “healer.” Because somehow a non-canon ship is so much more of a threat than the fact that these two men have canon girlfriends/wives.

The pathetic excuse of a garbage heap that made that post with your edit defends their actions by being an ass hole. And I'm not calling them names because they ship zukka. I don't care for zukka and even have friends who ship them. But this person is an adult who harasses minors and women of color, like many Zukka shippers tend to like doing these days, just because we ship zutara and ✨exist.✨ So I think I’m justified in calling them a rotten pile of last years Halloween pumpkin rot.
