‘Another accident Koko mentally chastised herself as she sat up in bed, awaking from her nap after an exhausting morning traipsing around sightseeing, lead by her relentless best friend, Margo.
The diapers had also been Margo’s idea. Koko had been discovered waking up with wet sheets due to Margo’s annoyingly impulsive habit of just walking into people’s rooms to ‘hurry them along’ in the mornings after she had already risen early and completed her morning routine. She had been sympathetic and helped Koko strip off the bed to go on the washing machine of the rented holiday apartment. Although Margo had pointedly remarked that the cleaning was going to put them behind on their (her) sightseeing schedule but that had seemed to be the worst of it.
That morning after Koko had showered and dressed they walked to a cafe for coffee and breakfast. Afterwards, instead of walking down the street to catch a bus to the city centre, Margo grabbed Koko’s wrist and dragged her across the shady square to the corner pharamacy. Koko was humiliated carrying the large package of adult diapers (for which the pharmacist apologized for not being able to supply a large enough bag) back across the square to the apartment. Fortunately the morning rush hour was over so it was only dog walkers and ladies with prams that they passed.
Margo had insisted Koko wear the diapers to bed every night from then on, for fear her wetting the bed would loose them their deposit.
Once again Margo walked into Koko’s room. She had knocked first but enterer before Koko had time to throw a blanket over herself.
“Wet again?” She commented casually and proceeded to try on a pair of earrings Koko had left by the dresser. “These are cute. Can I borrow them?”
“Uh. Yeah, sure. Go ahead.”
“Cool. Anyway time to get out of bed and get changed we’re going to see an opera remember. And by ‘changed’ I mean into something formal and a fresh diaper underneath. Some of these old theatre building only have like one toilet. I’m not sure I trust you to hold it for that long.”
