I wish my mother could live her life all over again. But instead of it being filled with all of the hurt and sadness she has felt, I wish she could live the life she has given me; one filled with unending happiness and love. I hate how in desi families no matter what women do the cleaning and cooking. They will not only make the food, but also put it in, pick up the dishes and then wash them. How brown men casually don’t pick up after themselves without the realization of how much the women have to end up doing. The worst of all is that you’re expected to pick after every man in the house without any complaints. And this cycle is further enforced by the women in the house who make their daughters and daughter-in-laws do the same. It honestly breaks my heart…
