" you're exhausted , roy , and you're still recovering . i'm gonna take over looking after lian , and you're gonna get some sleep . " to drive the point across , dick begins leading the redhead towards his bedroom so he can do just that . " i don't wanna see you out of this bed for several hours , harper . i'll take care of her for you . "
THE TOUCH IS TOO soothing, it's all so much more than dick should ever need to do for him. sure, they'd been friends for what felt like forever, but having lian had been his decision.
a decision dick wasn't anywhere near being a part of, and yet here he was. showing up and trying to guide him to bed. “ you don't have to do that, dick, i just need a tiny break -- ”
and yet roy really didn't want to let go of him. “ i was just texting so you could maybe get medicine for her and food for me, you don't have to do anything extra for me. i'm alright. seriously. ”
he's always been able to tell when roy is trying to be strong . it's a trait that's been instilled in both of them from a very young age , after thrusting themselves into the life of vigilantism before they even hit puberty . they're similar in that way , a shared experience that's brought them together and kept them together into adulthood . roy has been so brave with everything lately , dick just wants to lift his burden .
" nuh uh , this isn't a negotiation , harper . i'm gonna call wally and he's gonna bring food and medicine in the blink of an eye . i'm gonna stay here for the rest of the night , and you are gonna sleep . capiche ? "
all the while , he continues leading roy towards his bed and gingerly eases him onto the mattress . he sits next to him , hip-to-hip with his arm still curled around the redhead's shoulders , while he fiddles with his comm . " hey oracle , can you put me in touch with wally ? i got a favour to ask him . "
" alright , scooch over buddy . " without waiting very long for joseph to move at all , dick shoves himself into the tight space between him and the arm of the couch , practically sitting on top of his friend . he wriggles just enough to wedge his body into the spot with a cheeky grin . " you're thinking so loud , y'know . "
joey blinks from the sudden approach and then smiles, welcoming the invasion of his personal space, sea-greens warm as always. gesturing towards the sketchbooks he had lying on the table, he grins before he signs the next words, scooting back a little to give dick space to sit while still awfully close.

dick takes the opportunity to sling his legs into joey's lap , reclining back into the arm of the couch with an easy smile - the perks of this position include being able to clearly see the other man's communication , and being close enough to smell his shampoo . he can't help the way he yearns to be close to joey all the time these days .
