Lounge Day
Another, albeit less intense, wave of pain swept through her cranium, leaving a sore feeling in her temples, which she proceeded to rub. âIâve been going to bed every night, sure. But actually sleeping? Not so much.â Zatanna crossed her legs and took another sip of coffee, trying to find an angle at which she could lie her head that would be at all less uncomfortable. âAnd by that âalsoâ, I think itâs safe to assume youâve got a similar problem?â
Zatanna gave Kaldur a look. It couldnât have been too easy for him, these past few weeks. Not only did he still have to live with all he had done while undercover, but he was suddenly thrust back into the position of team leader. All of that responsibility, plus the guilt of losing a dear friendâŚshe could relate. But knowing him, it would take more than a few gentle nudges to get him to open up about it.Â
The coffee was proving to not be much of a help for the pain, but Zatanna had read somewhere that if you drank coffee, headache medication would be at least twice as effective. Too bad she didnât have any at the moment. âYou wouldnât happen to know of a miracle cure for migraines, would you?â She groaned, resisting the temptation to massage her forehead. It wouldnât actually help.Â
"Ah...yes, I guess I did let that slip, didn't I? I have had trouble sleeping, but mostly I believe I have to adjust to sleeping in the Watchtower." That's what he was hoping anyway. He hoped desperately that it was just that simple, and that he'd get his normal amount of rest soon enough...or at least as normal as anything got in their profession.
Zatanna was studying Kaldur in a way that was similar to what he had done. He wasn't sure if he wanted to be scrutinized, and he noted the hypocrisy. But he didn't want to let the facade of a calm and collected team leader slip, not ever. It was necessary that he appear in control because he was look up to by those on the Team. Perhaps it was okay to open up to Zatanna, however...she was a member of the Justice League, not the Team. They were friends, occasionally team members, but he was not her leader.
"No, I do not know of a miracle cure, at least, not one that is readily available. I have heard that the coffee you're drinking should help though." He thought for a moment. "Have you tried magicking stronger medicine to yourself? Or perhaps skipping that step and magicking the headache away completely? I'm not actually sure that is something you can do, but it seems like something you may be able to do." Kaldur had half a mind to ask her if she could possibly cure his sleeplessness, but he didn't want to be a burden. He figured he could always ask if it seemed to get worse.
