🍜 -from drifter
Shifting the fire wood in her arms, Chii looked down at the logs she had collected and smiled happily. He should be proud that she found so much for tonight! Maybe she ca-….what was that? Peeling up slightly she heard a strange sound come from the direction of where their camp was set up and she sprinted, dropping a few logs. Upon arriving to the scene, she could see a bright magenta liquid covering the grass. The logs dropped from her arms as she let out a small panicked whimper.
“A-….a-ah….”
Rushing forward, Chii reached out and held him up, her eyes wider than ever as tears began prickling at the edges.Â
“Help! How help?!”Â
Reaching up, she took his helmet off before looking around for her bag. Upon finding it she ripped it open and dumped the contents out, not caring if they get covered in his blood. She didn’t like this feeling…Last time she hurt this bad was when Akii left….Finding a health pack, Chii held it up and pointed at it.
“Heal drifter?!”
The drifter watched as she tore through the bags. While it was true that the pink liquid did manage to get everywhere, it didn’t seem to want to stick around, evaporating away a few seconds after touching anything solid.
“No, keep it. It won’t help, believe me I tried many times…”
Trying to explain only made the coughing start up again. They put a hand up, trying to hold it all back.
“It’s fine… Just need some rest.”
She looked about ready to cry, this must be the first time the drifter has ever managed to somehow feel guilty for being sick…
His second bout of coughing broke the camels back and set the tears loose. Slowly putting the health pack away, Small whimpers escaped her as she watched him cough.
“Don’t….leave. Chi doesn’t….like lonely.”
Getting up and moving to his side, she grabbed the canteen that had been laying close by and uncapped it. Holding it out, she gave him a weak smile.
The drifter took the canteen and took a long drink. It helped quite a bit… Once they had the coughing more under control, things would be less dramatic.
Taking a long, slow breath, they managed a small smile.
“I won’t… That’s why we’re looking, remember?”
“Mmhm!”
Her own breathing evened out slowly as she reached out to give his hand a squeeze.
“Chii will find cure! Chii cares for drifter!”
Shifting her legs behind her, she leaned her head down to the ground as if she was bowing. Her eyes closed for a brief minute as she seemed to mumble something. Sitting back up, she made a small hand motion before turning to him with a smile. It seemed she had made a prayer.
That meant an awful lot. It was almost funny, having someone pray for them had never even began to be something that would cross their mind and yet having it happen had managed to be one of the most touching things that could have ever happened.
Not knowing what to say, they just sat there and tiredly smiled.
"Thank you... With you here I think our odds are good..."
