PROLOGUE - part 1

here it starts! very smart move of me, someone who almost never draws backgrounds, to immediately start my comic very bg-heavy- well, at least it finally forced me to get used to them

BOOM jumpscare. Happy December 1st

I would show their sprites, but alas, I am over 1000+ miles away from the computer. But I actually wrote down what their appearances and personalities are while I was going through the game

Stonepaw is everyone’s favorite so we’ll start with her! She’s a silver and white speckled kitty with gray eyes and long fur. Her white patches are REVERSEPANTS in the game and I don’t think she has any tints. She is nervous and a picky nest builder. Aside from all that, I’d say she keeps to herself, introverted, very shy, and is afraid to express herself to others. She isn’t always like any of that cuz she is baby but these traits have been starting to develop further ever since she became an early medicine cat apprentice. Most of these traits also stem from the fact that she has a lot of bad memories and trauma involving 404, cuz even though she’s very close to her family members like Vine, Heart, or Fallen, she feels like they wouldn’t understand/worry about her. She believes she can just take care of her feelings herself

Next up is our older apprentice Whisperpaw! This girl is a light brown rosette with cyan eyes and long fur. Last time I checked she has no tings but I could be wrong. She’s charismatic and a lover of stories! I still haven’t shown more of her personality so much in comics, but you could say she’s the complete opposite of Stonepaw! She’s cheeky and always has something to say regarding the situation, but she’s a go-getter who keeps her head up. Super optimistic and looks on the bright side of things! Some might find her loud and annoying for this, but Iciclestar has actually been getting along with her! She’s got her confidence lol

HI EVERYONE! uhhh so im gonna be altering dogclan's timeline a bit. Genuinely the way Clangen works on a moons system is kina clashing with how i want this story to be told. i want to take my time on some things while also NOT HAVING THE OVERALL STORY TAKE PLACE OVER 14 YEARS. FOURTEEN FUCKING YEARS GUYS I DONT EVEN KNOWWWW ITS SO BAD. I DID THE MATH WITH HOW MANY MOONS IM GENERALLY PLANNING. its like 14 years .

SO! ive decided im gonna go on a basis of weeks instead of moons/months. Instead of: Moon 1: coyotekit stubbed her toe, Moon 2: The Nuclear Bomb Hit

Im gonna structure it more like: Moon 1: Week 1, Week 2, Week 3, Week 4 and then move on to moon 2 idk.

i might skip some weeks because whatever, we'll see how the timeline works out

I just feel like this will help me feel like the audience is getting a closer look into Dogclan's lives. This is why i did so many "part one part two part 3, random side story" thing back when dogclan first started because quietlilac and coyotekit only had 2 months together and i wanted to stretch it out but it felt so awkward

a) Write down all the dialogue. Emphasize what tone or emotion you’re trying to get. Write what characters are present and where the scene takes place in

b) Draw the panel lines for the entire comic you’re making. Adjust or redraw when you think “nah dis don’t look right”

c) Sketch out 1-3 pages to envision what it’ll look like

d) Start the line art for the pages you’ve sketched in so far, including backgrounds. Fix and redraw when it doesn’t look right or not match your vision

e) Repeat c and d for all pages until you got it all in

f) Start coloring and rendering, start with the backgrounds before the characters. Have a reference to color pick from and make the colors blend in with each panel

g) Text bubbles and dialogue! Don’t let them overlap too much (unless that’s exactly what you’re going for ex. a character talking way too much or talking over someone) and play around with their shapes

The cat, well, dies in game! Then 404, while no one can see her through the lens of their eyes (unless she accidentally breaks through that barrier hi Stone), comes to pick them up from Dying School and sends them straight to the Out Of Bounds! A place far beyond the established boundaries in the main game (and where the files n tech n stuff is put into) She revives them back to life and it’s all fun and games there
