Fascism thrives best in the cesspool of hopelessness. They want us so confused and hopeless that we give in. When you give in, you don’t fight back.

If you wait for life to look good to do the things that bring you joy; life will still be bad - you will just have less joy.

As someone who has struggled with my mental health a lot for the last thirty years, I know this struggle firsthand. And changing this belief system - the one where you spend all of your time expecting bad things so you won’t be surprised when they happen - it’s the hardest work that I have ever done. And I’m not perfect; I still have setbacks. I still experience really real fears about the state of the world and the US, in particular, because that’s where I live.

But I made a vow to myself that I will not let the choices of others ruin my life. When I made that vow, I was thinking of my parents - but it applies to the state of the government right now, too.

There are still flowers in my garden, and ripe tomatoes, and it’s almost pick-your-own apples season, and I have plans with my friends to go to as many cemetery ghost walks as we can find this October.

I still deserve to live. I still deserve to laugh. I still deserve to love. I still deserve to be as happy as I can be.

Entry 3: Revised History of the Centaur Pt.2, Ancient History

When dedicated to new discoveries, breakthroughs are quick to be found. While we were, at first, at a loss to where we may locate a new lead on our study of the Ancient Centaur - we were contacted by one of the Maruuk. A historian herself, Maara had spent many years contacting and connecting with the countless elders, sages, and other secret keepers of the Maruuk in an effort to discern where they'd come from.

Alas, this lead didn't go far. We were, luckily, able to confirm ancient Maruukai artifacts shared a shocking resemblance to ancient weapons located in Maraudon, which inspired Maara to seek out her distant cousins in Desolace. To our fortune, Nourne reached out to Dorthar, a Centaur who had joined the Horde many years prior.

Dorthar led our expedition into Desolace, having us meet with the Maraudine Clan. Khan Marek, in a rare show of cooperation, agreed to meet with our team. I believe this to be because of Maara, as the Maraudine are the Clan most likely to understand how important it is to locate Centaur outside of Kalimdor. The Khan did not let us into Maraudon, at least not yet, but he allowed us to study many of the ancient cites of his people - a first in history! Maara was able to make quick progress, as she was able to uncover a Maraudine burial chamber, buried into the mountainside. A tomb over ten thousand years old, we took great care to document and study what we found within.

And within? We learned that this was the tomb of Maraudos, the first Khan of the Maraudine. Maraudos, Fourth Son of Zaetar and Theradras, wrote of the truth.

"Our sin will never be forgotten by this world, even should the people forget. Let them forget. Let them believe our father remained pure to his end."

It would seem the first Khans willfully obfuscated the truth. As for how history became so distorted, we sought to ask Khan Marek his opinion.

Khan Marek's opinion, though at first tinged by a long standing rivalry and hatred with the tauren, is that it is not unlikely that generations of warfare between their groups - coupled with the uncertain and ever changing nature of Kalimdor - has led to their history being heavily damaged. To our astonishment, the Khan has an assumption that he has yet to prove.

A stone mural within Maraudon bears the depiction of beings that are neither centaur nor tauren. Still four-legged, but very apparently something else.

He allowed Dorthar and Maara into Maraudon to study it. Maara herself expressed doubt at what this figure could be, but as she is new to the rest of Azeroth, I cannot be surprised by her inability to recognize the figure she described.

I, however, know all the denizens of Azeroth. And to me, that description could belong to nothing other than a tol'vir.

I head to Uldum on the morrow. Maara and a few members of my expedition are remaining behind with Khan Marek, and Dorthar will be accompanying me to Uldum.

I am excited beyond compare.
