he had only been able to HOPE his sister had been among those chosen to be in the bunker. she should have been, being the only royal left. but he learned long ago not to ASSUME and prepare for the worst. and when he was finally on the ground again, waiting to see her among those delivered up out of the bunker it felt as if he is holding his breath.
the weight of six years fell away when he finally caught sight of her.
that rare smile pulls at the corner of his lips when she FINALLY sees him, brows pulled together. he is trying to hold back the rush of emotions but the moment her arms envelop him such attempts are futile. his arms wrap around her to return the embrace, even slightly lifting her off the ground as his face buries into her shoulder.
“ you’re not getting rid of me, yet. ”
fingers worn from YEARS OF HARDSHIP and fighting curl into the softness of her brother’s clothes. they’re different from the furs she’s used to seeing him in, though neither of them much resembles the children they’d once been together. at least...not physically. but emotionally ? teslin feels five years old again, seeking refuge in her brother’s arms after a particularly TERRIFYING nightmare.
her feet leave the ground and she can’t help a mirthful laugh. it’s a sound so foreign to their people, even she’s a bit surprised to hear it. but SHE’S ONLY HUMAN, despite the world’s best efforts.
