AP3 is going on an indefinite hiatus.

Hello friends and fellow letter writers! 

There’s been some things that I’ve tweaked, or wish to address as we’ve nearly reached the first month of the project!

First off, thank you all so much for your interest and enthusiasm! It couldn’t go anywhere without you! We have 70 characters signed up, and nearly the same amount of ooc authors! That’s so exciting to me! When I was brainstorming this I thought maybe a dozen (if I was lucky!) people would show interest! It’s been so much fun reading your surveys, and you all have fascinating, exciting characters! I hope your letter writing is going well, and you’re all having a ton of fun!

But with that being said, here are some things I think I need to touch on:

The first page of the character sheet is considered to be written in-character. 

I appreciate the boundaries some of you set, and the preferences you have for who your matches are OOC. If you have a special request that’s OOC, I’ve added a box for future applicants on the second, OOC page for anyone that you’re avoiding/personally blacklisted (it happens and I understand). However, I don’t know peoples’ OOC political or social preferences, so while I do my best I don’t know what political parties people belong to or what their leanings may be. That said, if someone’s user name or info is anything hateful or any sort of phobic I’m just not going to approve their application! I cannot guarantee someone isn’t conservative or liberal OOC, and if their OOC views clash with yours I am very sorry. I can make you both a new match if that sort of thing arises, but the question on the first page is in reference to in character political leanings. Like if your character would hate to talk to a Sylvanas loyalist, or someone that hates the Alliance etc. 

This is an in character matchmaking project. 

I think for most of us we tend to become OOC friends with our RP partners! Which is great! And if you prefer to keep a firm divide between RP and OOC? That’s cool too! But this project is intended solely for making IC matches for your characters, not the players behind them. If you’re seeking OOC friends, I can direct you to WoW discord servers where you might find some! But this isn’t the place for that!

In-game matches are kind of hard!

If you only want in-game matches, I’m sorry if you haven’t gotten as many as you’d like. Discord seems to be the preferred method for this exchange followed closely by Tumblr. I’m doing my best to get you matches, I promise! Just please be patient with me!

If you only provide me with your Discord contact info, please don’t be surprised when I add you on Discord.

My Discord handle is Bogwing#5031. It’s on the tumblr, it’s always been in the tumblr ad post, I’ve added it to the app, and it’s there on the post when I’ve made ads for it in Discord servers. I understand it can be a bit of a surprise when someone you don’t share servers or friends with adds you, but I always change my status message to relay I’m the AP3 matchmaker when I add people and am sending out matches. A simple “hi who is this?” I get! But woof...I get a lot of scoldings and cursed out. Please don’t? I do this alone and am trying to facilitate RP for you, it’s kinda crushing my enthusiasm when I get repeatedly yelled at for doing so.

Wave Four will go out during the week of March 30th. 

I need to advertise and get some more sign-ups, and I need some time to focus on some personal stuff. Thank you for your understanding!

Wave Three Complete!

All applications placed before noon, 3/14 have received matches. I am currently in the process of contacting two participants, but if you didn’t get your information please let me know!

Wave Three Postponed!

Hello friends! We only had 4 new signups this past week, so I’m going to postpone this next wave until next week! I’ll boost the project some more, and maybe we can get a few more sign ups!

I’ll also be getting out additional pen pals to those that wanted 3+ with this wave to help mix things up, so stay tuned for more matches!

Wave Two Matches Complete!

If you submitted your application before noon EST on 3/1, your matches are made and sent out! If you haven’t received them, please let me know either via a message here, or Discord. (You can reach me at Bogwing#5031!) Just a reminder for some common questions I’ve been fielding!

How do I start?

With a letter! :) Or reach out and follow your match on tumblr, or send a friend request on Discord! Maybe poke them OOC to say hi first, or dive write (har har) in! I tried to include topics that could serve as icebreaker ones in each match, if that helps!

What if someone is weird?

Please let me know. Some characters are weird, but if people are getting weird OOC just let me know. I have no issues setting things straight. And if someone is weird IC and you want a new match, I can handle that for you too. I can even contact them IC to say the match is over. If anything goes sideways, poke me here or on Discord at Bogwing#5031.

What if my match and I don’t click?

That’s cool! It happens, you know? Not everyone is going to get along, and neither will every character. Let me know and I can rematch you!

I received less than the amount of matches I signed up for, why?

More and more people are signing up, and if you were looking for three or more it’s possible I didn’t get you all your matches from the this wave so you could be matched with future sign ups! I’m going to do another wave this week with any new sign up’s, and anyone that was looking for more matches and hasn’t gotten any. (So long as there’s someone that’ll match well with them!)

There is one sign up that I haven’t matched yet, but I am looking for someone from Argent Dawn EU to make it happen! (Anyone on Argent Dawn EU and want to help a pen pal out? Still looking for someone on that server!)

With 64 sign-ups it’s clear people are very interested, and for that I thank you all! There wouldn’t be a project without participants, and I appreciate each and every one of you.

My sincerest apologies, but due to being wildly busy offline with some very important things I didn’t get the wave two matches out earlier this week. I set a weekly Saturday deadline for myself for each wave, but I’m afraid Wave Two will come out on Sunday this week instead. 

This is such a good question and I should have addressed it before! My apologies for that!

Matchmaking Progress Report!

Firstly, thank you all for your interest, support, and applications!

All applications received so far have been sorted, and I am in the process of matchmaking! Please expect to receive your match(es) either late tonight, or Saturday (2/22)! I will do my best to make sure everyone has a match, but if you had very specific requirements (Only in-game and a specific server for example.) it might take me a little bit! But I will find you someone! ♥

The Azeroth Pen Pal Project (or simply AP3) exists to facilitate letter writing exchanges! Participants submit an application form and after careful review of it, we match them with a pen pal or pen pals we think they’d enjoy getting to know. We strive to be timely in our matchmaking turnaround, and hope our dedication to the process is a reflection of how important we think a written correspondence is!

What is this? A low-key, low stakes way to make more RP contacts and engage in some more relaxed (Maybe? I guess letters can be intense.) role play. Maybe your character wants to practice a new language skill, make new friends, or simply send envelopes of glitter! It’s your letter exchange, have fun with it!

How do I sign up? By filling out the application here! The first part is IC info to help me pair up matches, and the second part is how to arrange the letters oocly! It should be very quick to fill out unless your character wants to write a novella of interests. Honestly, go off if so. I would be very amused to read it.

May I request a specific character or characters to be matched with? No! Your matches will be a surprise, and maybe that surprise will be a match with a cool new stranger or a cool old friend!

What if someone is inappropriate OOC? Let me know either via a message on Tumblr, or via discord at Bogwing#5031. If someone is being nasty OOC I will address it OOC for you!
